Definitely.I wish it was so easy. I was expected to fill in an American application form instead of a British 1 & American qualifications are different, our post codes have 6 characters whereas zip codes have 5 characters, our telephone numbers have a different amount of digits too. I was also expected to do an American maths test with money questions & I don't know anything about American money especially as they have nickels & dimes & I don't know what they're worth. To me nickel is metal & a dime is a certain brand of chocolate bar. We only learnt some American spelling at school & some American history. We learnt about Columbus, Vespucci, native Americans, Mountain men, home-steaders, Cattle-ranchers, cowboys, the gold rush & America's role in W.W.I. (We don't have High School diplomas & degrees, we have G.C.S.E.'s & I don't know whether Americans even have an equivalent to Retail N.V.Q.'s, C.L.A.I.T., Word processing Level II. certificates & E.C.D.L. Luckily I got a new job before I needed to hand it in.Hi Lady Divine!

Why is someone in this world always dying, dying, dying?
Why does something in this world always make you feel like crying, crying, crying?
How come there are some things you have to do which are so trying, trying, trying?
Why is this world so full of hate, hate, hate?
Why are so few things in the world that are great, great, great?
How come if you're not careful instead of disarming a situation you offer bate, bate, bate?
I know that for every action there's an equal & opposite reaction, reaction, reaction.
This reaction isn't always good & that can lead you to distraction, distraction, distraction.
It's good though when it leads to the right attraction, attraction, attraction.
I wish you a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year.
Don't eat too much chocolate, Don't drink too much beer.
You might be teetotal & not drink alcohol at all.
Some people believe 3 wise men visited Jesus with gifts & on their knees did fall.
The gifts they brought were Frankincense, Myrrh & gold.
We still have gifts at Xmas now as in days of old.
We also Carol sing.
We sing of heaven's King.
The church bells ring.
We remember the message the angel Gabriel did bring.
We remember the Magi following that star.
We remember the story of people for the census walking or riding donkeys so far.
We know this story whatever we believe & whoever we are.
We remember being told about St. Nicholas who is also known as Father Xmas or Santa Claus.
Some people believe (I don't) he brings good girls & boys Xmas presents & mine & yours.

I wish I lived in a time where in the Highlands of Scotland, Highland ponies did roam.
I wish I lived in a time where to my family Dunoon was the place we called home.
I wish there was no more war.
I wish for all pestilential illnesses there was a cure.
I wish no one on earth had to be poor.
I wish there was an end to all these fights.

Happy New Year to you Clay! We celebrate New Year at midnight on 31 December by drinking with family, saying Happy New Year & joining hands & singing Auld Lang Syne. At 1 time people used to go around other people's houses celebrating & it was seen as lucky if the first person who entered your house after midnight was a tall, dark, handsome stranger especially if he was bearing gifts. I respect your culture. I was just telling you about our ways as I know you like to learn about other people's ways.
I am extremely upset & angry. I have just heard that a mob of anti-capitalist thugs went to Buckingham Palace & threw fireworks at mounted police horses. They also rammed sticks in their eyes, shone lasers in their eyes to try to blind them & cut their legs with glass. 6 horses are injured. What kind of sick, bitter, twisted & cruel people do this kind of thing? I feel like swearing but it's not like me at all.
We don't, Clay so I couldn't join in but I use your forum as a learning tool so could learn more about your culture from it. 30 November is St. Andrew's Day so a fitting tribute would be a Scottish board with Scottish songs, stories, poems & scenes, maybe, just an idea. I was planning visiting everyone on or near December 1 with a couple of Christmassy pictures & a verse to represent a Christmas card well as close I could get to 1.
Thank you very much Clay. I am going to construct a very well thought out piece on Charlotte Bronte & maybe 1 on Jane Austen too for you. The pieces I am planning on writing are more time-consuming as they are more detailed. I was also thinking of doing a piece on Wedgwood. I also thought maybe horse arts & crafts where I showed some pictures & ornaments of my own including some of my Wedgwood.
The power of a song
Do you know the power of a song?
Songs are a good way of expressing feelings.
They are especially helpful if you dance or sing along.
You can express feelings about your bad dealings.
You can express happiness, depression & rage.
Then you can let go of these feelings.
You can turn another page.
You can concern yourself with other dealings.
You can talk about subjects that are taboo.
You can express these feelings at a volume that goes through the roof.
You don't just have to give people an emotional clue.
You can tell them the truth.
Everyone can have a dance.
They may sing or play instruments if they get the chance.

Autumn
Autumn is a time when all the leaves from deciduous trees go red, yellow, orange & brown.
This makes some people wear a frown.
Then the leaves from deciduous leaves from the trees fall.
At Halloween the children dressed as witches, wizards, vampires & ghosts “trick or treat” call.
This is also a time when farmers their harvest reap.
If it's been poor they sometimes weep.
It's also a time when it gets cold & dull.
People start to wear clothes made of wool.
They do this to keep them warm.
We have the occasional storm.

Yesterday, I went to Stamford & Melton Mowbray. Stamford is a nice, old town with 600 listed buildings some dating back to the 13th/14th centuries. It was in the middle of the Great North Road's London to York trade route so had a lot of coaching inns.

This fight/flight/freeze response is out of date.
I detest people who are full of hate.
Singing normally calms me down.
It normally rids me of the frown.
Singing a song with lots of high notes lets of steam.
Singing a crescendo normally works a dream.
That's because if you express anger vocally a crescendo mimics this.
It starts quiet getting louder until it reaches a climax that's easy to miss.
The sound of bagpipes keeps me calm.
I find it has a great deal of charm.
Reading helps cheer me up a lot too.
I read books wrote like Victorians used to do.
What if?
What might Britain have been like if the Romans hadn't invaded Britain & kept the Scots over Hadrian's wall & then Antoninus's wall?
We might have all been like the Scots are now but without the baths, drainage system, straight roads, literacy & numeracy skills, cheese, wine & money.
What would have happened if Edward I hadn't been such a greedy King?
If the Romans hadn't have invaded Britain, it wouldn't have mattered as Edward I would have ruled the whole of Britain anyway. If Edward I hadn't been such a greedy King he would have been satisfied with just ruling England & wouldn't have fought to rule Wales & Scotland too. All them lives would have been saved. He wouldn't have earned his nickname of "Hammer of the Scots". Robert the Bruce wouldn't have been pressurised to change sides by his father & William Wallace might not have been defeated, captured, tried & executed for treason.
What if William III of Orange hadn't ordered everyone to pay allegiance to him?
He wouldn't have given the Campbell's an excuse to murder their worst enemies the McDonald's. If the Campbell's & McDonald's of Glencoe hadn't been worst enemies they would have explained to William of Orange why the McDonald's of Glencoe were late & the massacre of Glencoe wouldn't have occurred.
What if the Highland clearances hadn't occurred?
There would be more people living in the highlands & less sheep.
If all these events hadn't occurred & the 2 world wars Scotland wouldn't have all their songs as a lot of Scottish songs like "Scots wha hae", "Scotland the brave", "The ballad of Glencoe", "The Skye Boat Song", "Bonnie Dundee", "The Wallace" & "Willie McBride" wouldn't exist.
A lot of Scottish songs are based on tragic times in Scotland's past. Some Scots/Irish songs are that similar that Scots/the Irish argue amongst themselves whether they are Scottish/Irish. At 1 time bagpipes were played throughout Britain. Now only Northumberland & Scotland have them.
