Overwhelmed

Do you ever feel overwhelmed
When people are screaming?
Or when there are so many thoughts in your head
When you should be dreaming?
Or when your mind is racing at 100 mile per hour
& you can't record your thoughts quick enough
& you need to be constantly doing things
or reading something heavy & it's tough?
You're blinded by the light
& it's just way too bright.

This one for me. I fight with anxiety. 😥 sleep like a baby
My head races & races. ThanQ for this.
I'm glad you feel understood. You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed reading my poem.

Horses in fields

The sky was azure like aquamarine
The sun was a golden ball
It's rays were glaring bright
& it was burning us all

There were beautiful horses in fields
They were playing & running free.
I came to feed & caress them
& they were nuzzling me.

Fascination over difficult things (Inspired by Fascination over what's difficult by W.B. Yeats)

Why is there such a fascination over difficult things?
Why do we prefer to do something to challenge us rather than something that to us sings?
Or just the simple pleasures life brings?
Why do we prefer reading tomes?
Than enjoying the comforts of homes?

Why is it harder to get something to chew on the more intelligent we get?
Why is it harder goals are more likely than easier ones to be met?
Why do we all like things that make us think?
Why do we like something in which our teeth can sink?
Why do we often find hard things easy & easy things hard?
Why do we do hard things perfectly but our easy tasks are marred?

After so long we find it hard to find the challenges we need to keep us going.
We want to learn but have to find something harder to keep us growing.
& find something useful & interesting to be knowing.
Either that or we find things that are way too hard like Greek.
Sometimes we just enjoy being a bit of a Geek.

Sometimes it's nice to give ourselves a bit of a break.
However, that's not always a piece of cake.
Our heads are always hungry for more.
Sometimes more information than they can store.
Mindfulness, relaxation & spontaneity are sometimes good things.
If our heads will let us this can allow us to appreciate the pleasures life brings.
If we don't do enough our heads switch off & we make careless errors, we turn into zombies by being on auto-pilot all the time.
Improvisation can be a good thing when we don't accidentally do something inconsiderate which can be such a societal crime.

Insomnia

Isn't it annoying when you're tired so go to bed
But thoughts just won't stop swimming round in your head?
The rest of your body can be achy and tired out.
Your eyes can want to close but your head just wants to shout.
Your mind is racing at 100 miles per hour.
Ideas just come raining down in a heavy shower.
By the time you finally get to sleep it's time to get up.
Then you need bucketloads of coffee to drink by the cup.

Frustrating when it happens. Very well expressed Lady Anne 🤍
It is indeed. Thank you very much, Lady Divine. (I just had to write about it. I've just been feeling overwhelmed the last few days by all the thoughts & ideas running around in my head. Do you ever get the feeling that if you don't get some of your thoughts & ideas out your head will explode? Sometimes it's information too.)

Yes, we need to ground ourselves. Overthinking happens especially when we’re ready to fall asleep.

Thank you so much for your wonderful contributions Lady Anne, thank you for sharing your talents 🙏🏼🤍🕊️
Tell me about it.

You're welcome, Lady Divine.

A six-way battle
Though the sky outside is clear
A storm is raging over here.
There's a five-way battle being fought.
Between conscience, memory, knowledge, fear logical & emotional thought.
There are arrows of harsh words and  spears of fears and bad memories being flung.
While conscience fires the cannon-ball of guilt, I just feel as if I was being hung.
I'm sick of this painful feud.
Making me feel as if my head was being thumb-screwed
In the torture-chamber of my brain
Where these thoughts & feelings remain.
From my eyes rain floods of blue tears
That carry on dropping for a thousand years.
& I can see the black dog of depression come.
To bite me on the bum.
& cover my eyes with a jet black blanket so I can't see clearly
& it destroys the interests I thought of dearly.

Great one Lady Anne, I feel this too! Thank you so much for this insightful poem 🤍

Overthinking

Thoughts spinning in your head
Over-analysing everything you said.
You feel like cringing at the idiot you were
While your thoughts really whirr.
You said things you really regret
& said & done things you'd rather forget.

Thank you very much, Lady Divine. I realized that last poem needed quite a lot of editing which can be hard work. I'm thinking about writing a poem about a cruise on Loch Lomond next.

This is my latest poem that just popped into my head. I'm a bit unsure of it. I've worked hard for ages to finish it, even out line-lengths and shorten it. I still think it's a bit too long. Constructive criticism welcome. I hope you enjoy.

A steam train trip

Everyone was waiting for the gigantic black five
hovering at the platform like bees round a hive
we could hear it hurtling down the tracks
it was steaming past all the coal stacks
we heard the screech of metal on metal
clackety-clack went the  train on the track
finally it could settle
the fireman filled the coal and stoked up the fire
the doors opened to let on the ticket buyers
guards ensured
everyone was all aboard

it started off extremely slow
Whew! Whew! Whew! Whew!
the whistle blew
like a kettle heating up telling you the water's boiling
or a pan when your dinner's broiling
we were all going to have a good day
chimney was smoking and the engine steamed away
the fireman kept piling coal in the locomotives fire hole
causing a black cloud of smoke as black as coal
the smoke was like a funeral pyre
while the fire firemen were stoking got higher

the iron horse was running along the tracks
through fields and forests, both the fronts and backs
then we got to dinner-time and there came a trolley dolly
a lady was pushing the tea and sandwich trolley
I bought a sausage sandwich and a nice cup of milky tea
I could have had a cooked meal, but no dining car for me
looking through the window to see what I could see
I saw horses, sheep, cattle and sheepdogs running free
they were looking as happy as can be
I looked out of the window and saw the heather
while the train went hell bent for leather
then we went around the bend
that's when I reached my journeys end

here I am in Oban after such a pleasant trip. What a delight!
seeing Mull, Skye and Iona from the road was a wonderful sight
we fed and stroked wild swans
we heard the sound of bagpipes in a far off uproar
they were playing the most beautiful songs
though they drowned out the songs of the birds
we could smell delicious food at a sea food stall
we smelt the aromas, of salt and the goodness of it all
we decided to have some shrimps for a snack
that would fill us up while we got back
I picked up all the beautiful shells so I could hear the sea in each one
on the beach we looked around
listening for every single sound
like the sounds of swans and gulls overhead
plus those on the beach waiting to be fed
on our return trip home I looked at what I could see
remembering all I'd seen with glee
living life to the full
my trip today was never dull
I am planning to come back again
this experience will never leave my brain

Very nice, is this from a trip you took?
Thank you very much. I was inspired to write this by a painting at an art exhibition I stewarded. I'd been to Oban and I'd been on a black five but I've never been on a black five to Oban. (I just used imagination there.)

Good imagery, I too, imagined it with your poem!
Thank you very much. I'm glad my poem took you on a pleasant trip.

or a pan when your dinner's broiling
we were all going to have a good day
chimney was smoking and the engine steamed away
the fireman kept piling coal in the locomotives fire hole
causing a black cloud of smoke as black as coal
the smoke was like a funeral pyre
while the fire firemen were stoking got higher

the iron horse was running along the tracks
through fields and forests, both the fronts and backs
then we got to dinner-time and there came a trolley dolly
a lady was pushing the tea and sandwich trolley

This is my latest poem that just popped into my head. I'm a bit unsure of it. I've worked hard for ages to finish it, even out line-lengths and shorten it. I still think it's a bit too long. Constructive criticism welcome. I hope you enjoy.

A steam train trip to Mallaig (longer version)
Everyone was waiting for the gigantic black five
hovering at the platform like bees round a hive
we could hear the behemoth hurtling down the tracks
while it was steaming past all the coal stacks
we heard the screech of metal on metal
until finally it could settle
clackety-clack went the train on the track
as the front wheel stopped as well as the back
the fireman filled the coal and stoked up the fires
the doors opened to let on the ticket buyers
the guards ensured
everyone was all aboard

Whew! Whew! Whew! Whew!
the whistle blew
like a kettle when the water's boiling
or a pan when your dinner's broiling
we were all going to have a fine day
the chimney was smoking, the engine steamed away
the fireman kept piling coal in the locomotive fire hole
causing a cloud of smoke as black as Ceasar's foal.
the jet black smoke was like a funeral pyre
while the fire firemen were stoking got higher

The iron horse started running along the tracks
through fields and forests, both the fronts and backs
then we got to dinner-time and there came a trolley
pushed by our server, a sweet lady called Mollie
I bought a sausage sandwich and a nice cup of milky tea
I could have had a cooked meal, but no dining car for me
while the driver and fireman ate their bacon and eggs
swilled down with tea after straining off tea bag dregs
(they'd cooked their bacon and eggs on the shovel for coal
after cleaning it so it wouldn't put coal in their cake-hole)
I looked through the window to see what I could see
I saw horses, sheep, cattle and sheepdogs running free
they were looking as happy as can be
I looked out of the window and saw the heather
while the train went hell bent for leather
then we went around the bend
that's when I reached my journeys end

here I am in Mallaig after such a pleasant trip. What a delight!

Then we decided to have a great deal of fun
I picked up beautiful shells, I heard the sea in each one.

When I was a girl I dreamt
When I was a girl I dreamt of having a farm.
There was a reason why it held such charm.
I dreamt of work-horses ploughing the fields.
Harvesting the crops that the land yields.

I dreamt of sheep-dogs rounding up sheep
Before coming in around the fire to sleep.
I dreamt of stroking their silky coat.
On them & horses I'd dote.
For my favourite animals they'd get the vote.

I dreamt of waking up to the barn owls coo
As well as the cockerel calling you.
I dreamt of picking up hens eggs
While watching they didn't peck my legs.

Sweet…
I'm glad you like it.

It’s great to read your creativity!!!
Thank you very much. I haven't had much time to read anything than a poem a day and coursework recently or to write anything but coursework.

A nice day at the coast
The wind rustles through the trees.
Your hair blowing in the gentle breeze.
You can smell the sea in the air.
The smell of salt is everywhere.

Seagulls calling out to you.
They want fish and chips like you do.
Waves gently rolling on the sand.
You're deciding whether to stay on dry land.

Or should you cruise around the bay.
& make the most of a good day.

I can imagine this…good poem Lady Ann 🤍🙏🏼🫧

Adorable appalloosas ambling along
Adorable appalloosas ambling along
Dancing to their favourite song.
They're as happy as can be.
Running and jumping wild and free.

Beautiful creatures for you to see.
Loving and kind to you and me.
Jumping over hurdles and hedges
Peeping in at window ledges.

Coats of satin or silk
Coloured as white as milk
With spots as black as coal.
Oh! Look there! She's had a foal.

Watch the appalloosas play!
Hear them whinney or neigh!

This is not just a poem, it’s a song. 🎶🤍
I can write and sing songs too. I'm glad you enjoyed reading my poem.

The torture chamber of your mind

You need to be armed to enter the torture chamber of your minds.
You need to shield yourself from the internal weapons of all kinds.
The medieval torture chamber which screws you up with unkind words & negative thoughts.
They intertwine with dreams & interesting information so sometimes you need negative thought to be separated by forts.

Sometimes your mind is a battlefield with good thoughts fighting against bad.
Your mind can be a battlefield with happy thoughts fighting with the sad.
Sometimes from the spears & arrows of negative words & harsh experiences we need a shield.
It's necessary to have a shield & sword to defend ourselves from our mental battlefield.

We're constantly fighting a battle everyday.
In our minds we're fighting in every way.

In the torture chamber of your mind,
Along with negative thoughts, unkind words & pleasant dream you find.
Ghosts, ghoulies, monsters & witches of all kinds.
That haunts our dreams from the depths of our minds.

Wow dealing with shadow self thank you for sharing
Intense and very good.
You're welcome.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading my poem.

Walking my friendly, furry family member at break of day.

I was walking my friendly, furry family member at break of day,
When the rising sun on my dogs black, silky fur shone its golden ray.
I was walking along the nice, sandy beach
When the waves flowed & my feet they did reach.

The sand felt like velvet under my feet
While my toes the waves went to meet.
The grains of sand ran like the sands of time.
While the sea washes away every bit of grime.

I loved to see the motion,
of the then calm, serene ocean.
Showing my dog undying devotion.
To calm every destructive emotion.

Great poem Lady Anne, thank you for sharing 🧡

Furry friend with many names.
Playing lots of really fun games.
He played when he wanted to play.
If he didn't he told you to go away.
You couldn't force him as he'd scratch or bite.
His sharp claws & teeth meant you wouldn't win the fight.
Then he'd sit on your knee.
Saying "Come on! Stroke me."
Then he lets out a purr.
While you stroke his soft, silky, fluffed-up fur.

I like this!
I'm glad you enjoyed reading my poem. Thank you very much for the appreciation.

Why is Sage
all the rage?

It is hard to use.
It blows my fuse.

I prefer using spreadsheets or doing things the old way.
It's taking all my time to keep self-critical thoughts at bay.

I really feel so thick.
I really want my wounds to lick.

I like this one, nice 🫶🏻
Thank you very much. I wrote it when I was frustrated with my computerised accounts coursework. I didn't think I could get past 1 of the tasks. I'd followed my tutor's instructions & kept getting error messages. In the end I found a way that worked quickly & more easily & I got straight through. (I felt as if I was constantly hitting a brick wall the way I was told & kept messing up. I made a big mess trying to make things right then had to be reset. I didn't think I could do it & I really felt very thick.)

Great working through and having such great results. Bravo!
Thank you very much.

Bravo!

Why is Sage
all the rage?

It is hard to use.
It blows my fuse.

I prefer using spreadsheets or doing things the old way.
It's taking all my time to keep self-critical thoughts at bay.

I hope you’ll share more in 2023 Lady Ann. 🙏🏼😊🤍
I will do, Lady Divine. (I've felt pretty uncertain of my writing the odd once or twice this year. Some people have told me I don't write poetry, I write a set of related sentences that rhyme. I know that that's 1 of the definitions of poetry though it can be more or less. When I feel better about myself I argue that I'm a blooming good rhyme artist.)

It’s all about perspective.
Also as an artist, allow yourself the freedom to make mistakes.
When that happens, we can write and let it unfold, letting it flow.
It’s allowing you to expand as a poet.
True, not all of it will feel good at first.
The beauty of it is, leave it as is, then go back and tweak it, if you feel inclined.
Also, when you go back to read it at a later date.
You’ll be surprised at what you’ve created.

Doubt creeps in, in all facets in life.
Always happy to see you create.

🙏🏼🤍😊Happy Christmas 🎄
I know. I just needed to take time out & just think that's their opinion. More people like my poetry & class it as poetry than don't. The people that don't either don't know anything about poetry at all or like modern "disjointed words scattered on a page" style poetry. I'm very impressed with a couple of pieces I created this year.

Merry Xmas.

Happy to read this,..🤍🙏🏼

Although it was sunny, a thunder storm was raging,
The tempestuous past between England & Scotland wasn't aging.
Spears & arrows were raining down.
In drops of blood people could drown.
Drops of blood & tears were falling,
While on the battle-fields soldiers were brawling
In the distance looking on, women were screaming & babies were bawling.
Thunderclaps were rending the air
While wounded & dead people laid everywhere.
Swords like claps of thunder were clashing.
While soldiers their foes were bashing
& their enemies they were thrashing.

Great work Lady Ann!!!

I will do. I'm glad you like them. Thank you very much for the kind feedback & appreciation.

(I'm on a business skills course at the moment, followed by bookkeeping & accounting courses, computerised accounts & then I've got to redo my computer courses as the ones I've taken are now out of date. After that I'm being trained to teach adults to read because they're going to start teaching adults to read at work. As I've already learnt to teach under-12s English & maths I'm the 1 who has been asked to do it. *I've just got lots of homework on at the moment.*)

Learning something new is exciting. Congratulations Lady Ann

The snowy owl's journey
I was watching a snowy owl as she was flying way up high.
I watched her peregrinations as she meandered like a river through the sky.
She saw a fish in a river & swooped down, flying low for a bit to catch her prey by surprise.
Then, all of a sudden she caught & ate him before my very eyes.

Later on, she flew over fields all white with snow.
She was wondering where on earth to go.
She saw children having snowball fights & building snowmen.
She saw something that really caught her eye then.

Flying past a house, she looked through a window & saw a Xmas tree.
It was green with red baubles & silver & gold tinsel & a family were sat around it as happy as can be.
There were presents under the tree & the family were singing Xmas carols & songs.
They were singing as melodiously & harmoniously as you can imagine & as clear as the church bell that dongs.

She was a beautiful bird as white as can be.
It was nice to watch her flying gracefully & free.

Great imagery, I enjoyed your beautiful bird of wisdom!
Thank you Lady Ann ♥️

This was my improved version of the poem.

Glasgow

The fog,
the smog.
The rain pouring down
like a river mucky brown.
Scotland's city number 2
smells of industrial chimney smoke through & through.
Clydesdale horses take people everywhere.
People wear Paisley print & tartan pretty & fair.
Chocolate teacakes are on the bill of fayre.
The sound of bagpipes fill the air.
Glasgow is the swan.
It is the ship sailing on the River Clyde like in days long-gone.
Glasgow is Scotland's industrial beating heart.
It is the hammer tearing its enemies apart.
People give you a welcoming handshake.
They are industrious & tough. They will not bend or break.
They welcome everyone there.
Glasgow is square.
It is a thistle in your side.
Glasgow sings the song of the Clyde.
People drink Irn bru,
refreshing for me & you.
People read the works of Sir Walter Scott.
Glasgow is all the pride we've got.
There are horse-drawn carriages taking ship-yard manager's to work.
Just because they're in charge doesn't mean they can shirk.
There are lots of B & B's.
There are Highland dancers dancing until they freeze.
Glasgow's foundation is a roundabout where life goes round & round each day.
People all go their own way.

I guess I should have written it in the past tense.

You’ve written it as your imagination beholds your attention.
Impressed that you’re allowing it.
Good one Lady Ann.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you very much, Lady Divine. A lot of it would have been how Glasgow was. I had to put metaphors in there as we got told we had to use both metaphors & similes. The 1st version had to be more-or-less all metaphors & similes as well as imagery. We had to keep some metaphors in the 2nd version. I'm allowing it because I managed to get all the rhyme I wanted. I was impressed with the 2nd 1 except for the uneven line-lengths.

It’s great as is!
Line lengths are like thoughts, some longer others shorter.
Very happy you’re sharing!
Thank you very much. In that case I'm happy with it.

I nearly stopped writing a few weeks ago because I was on a creative writing course & the response to the question prompts didn't have a rhyme on every line at 1st. (He said it was supposed to be a poem but I didn't think that.)

This was my 1st response:

Glasgow is the fog, the smog & rain pouring down.
It is like a river, mucky & brown.
Glasgow is Scotland's city number two.
It is the smell of industrial chimney smoke through & through.
Glasgow is Clydesdale horses
It is Paisley print & colourful tartan.
Glasgow is chocolate teacakes.
It is the sound of bagpipes.
Glasgow is a ship.
It is the industrial beating heart of Scotland.
Glasgow is a hammer.
It is a welcome handshake.
Glasgow is industrious & touch.
It is welcoming.
Glasgow is a square.
It sings the song of the Clyde.
Glasgow is Irn Bru.
It is the works of Sir Walter Scott.
Glasgow is all the pride we've got.
It is a horse-drawn carriage taking ship yard managers to work.
Glasgow is a B & B.
It is highland dancers.
Glasgow is foundation.
It is a roundabout.

I wrote this as I realised that most of my previous work was fixated on my thoughts & emotional feelings rather than what I saw, heard, smelt, tasted & felt physically. In writing this I challenged myself to stop living in my head so much & just allow things to be & experience them as they are.

I walk in my garden & what do I see
smiling right back at me?
Yellow roses, red roses, orange roses too.
Purple roses, pink roses & roses of every hue.
I walk in my garden & what do I hear?
The sound of birdsong which fills me with cheer.
I walk in my garden & what do I smell?
A scent nicer than any perfume they sell.
I walk in my garden & what do I feel?
The feeling of grass that my pains do heal.
I walk in my garden & pick some mint?
What does it taste like? You don't need a hint.

Great challenge and great poem! Way to go Lady Ann! 🙏🏼🎆💜
Thank you very much, Lady Divine.

It's a hard life.
Some people have nothing but trouble & strife.
You've got to keep going though no matter what you've gone through.
Unless you write your life story though the subject is taboo.
Some people have always had an easy life & good look.
To stop themselves from crumbling though some people have always had to take their refuge in a book.
It doesn't matter whether you've been bullied all your life & in some workplaces too, people still expect you to smile.
You can also have had to go through seeing people you love suffer from cancer & die after a while.
It's especially bad if you've had to look after others at the same time as for them you've got to stay strong.
1 good way of coping is by singing Bette Midler's the rose, people like your voice & sing along.
It's not nice to have an Aunt die of a stroke.
It's even worse when you're in a café & an old man is having 1 & no one listens to you when you're telling them what to tell the paramedics on the phone & no one believes you. You find out later you were right when you're talking to the old bloke.
It's not nice seeing someone having a fit.
The sight when seen for the 1st time really hits.
There's only so much a person can take.
Society sees you as an idiot though if you break.
It doesn't matter what you're capable of, this idea is wide-spread.
If you aren't happy, no matter what you've been through you're off your head.
Then people wonder why others think they'd be better off dead.
You've got an over-critical father who insults everyone & causes an argument every day.
Then people wonder why you don't want to speak out, laugh, sing & play.
You always have to be wrong & Father always has to be right.
If he isn't he always starts a fight.
The news today is mostly very bad.
Then people wonder why you're sad.
No wonder why this world is full of rage.
It's nice to be someone else for a few hours either by reading a book or being on a stage.
A lot of people judge others too quickly before finding out why they are like they are.
A lot of people are held back by these thoughts, feelings & experiences who could have gone far.
I think people should be a lot more understanding to others.
I think Fathers should be nicer to daughters & Mothers.
There are that many celebrities who people were brought up with dying.
There aren't many news stories today that don't have you crying.
You've still got to plod on to the end of the road.
You've got to keep going with your heavy load.
All the self-analysis you have to do in self-esteem, confidence-building & assertiveness classes only makes you see your flaws more.
C.B.T. is less helpful than the 3 classes mentioned above & only cover the same content, if not less especially if you did the classes before.
Fluoxetine only makes you worse as it makes you fat.
It doesn't even work when it's circumstances that have made you feel like that.
If you're different no matter what you do, you don't have many friends.
Like I said before, for some people trouble & strife never ends.
Not many people realise that people with the learning style of only having to be told or shown something once or read something once & be able to do it straight away makes them more prone to emotional difficulties as they take everything in before they get a chance to think about things & have difficulty forgetting things.
Not many people realise that creative people are more prone to emotional difficulties either. Famous creative people who suffered from depression are Charlotte Bronte & Charles Dickens.
If you say how you really feel people think you're an attention-seeker or are only out for sympathy which isn't true.
Sometimes you wish people could see inside your head so that they'd realise how their behaviour affects you & they could also see the real you.
In some ways this wouldn't be good though.
All your private information this would show.
Sometimes you wish you couldn't understand anything.
This would ease all the emotional pain & suffering.

ThanQ it’s deep.
You're welcome. Thank you very much.

What's going on in the world? It's going mad.
Most of the news is bad or sad.
Too often in this world somewhere there is a war.
You wonder why some people just like all this gore.
You wish for a time where all wars cease.
You hope for a time of eternal peace.

you are right about that lady Ann.

World has to stand united to stop Putin from destroying Ukraine.

World needs to find a way fast to stop this madman and a ruthless killer.
I agree, Clay. I think it's more serious than that though. When I 1st heard the news it reminded me of how WWII started which is scary especially as weapons are more technologically advanced now. It really is scary. He needs stopping.

War hurts everyone.
It does indeed but you still get some lunatics who cause them.

Our imagination is a brilliant thing.
Just think of all the joy that it can bring.
We can live in another world.
If we don't like straight hair without paying for hairdressers or putting effort into it we can have it curled.
We can have whatever our heart desires.
We can be who everyone else admires.
 We can live our dream.
 Our hearts can beam.
We have to come back to reality some time though.
Then we have to believe what we really know.

This is a good one.

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much. I meant that some of the techniques in the written work you're given in self-esteem, confidence building & assertiveness classes are good & others don't work but you're right that it's the same for writing too.

Agreed!

It actually applies in many different paths of life.
Thank you so much for sharing ♥️

It's awful when you just start to cry.
It just comes on & you've got to work out why.
You just can't stop yourself but it's because you've been strong too long.
You've just got to let it out though the time & place is wrong.
You've taken your refuge in a book for so long that when you don't read you can't cope.
You really miss your books as they hide the harsh truths from you & you sit & mope.
 You've had a harsh life.
You only ever have trouble & strife.
You end up having the sensitivity of a 5 year old.
You don't want to understand anything anymore that you read or you're told.
You're ashamed that the least thing said or reminding you of certain memories triggers your tears.
Depression isn't just an excuse used by cry-babies, it's a condition that should be 1 of your worst fears.
You're not proud of who you are.
You think that you'll never go far.
You hate who you are but you can change that.
You have the power to change who you are to a certain extent to go to where you want to be from where you're at.
You see no way out of the position you're in.
To get back on track you don't know where to begin.
That is unless you get help or have been in that position before.
If you've been in that position before you know what's in store.
You go through your old written work, some of it doesn't work, some does work.
You work hard to get over it & don't shirk.

Happy national vodka day & World poetry day too!
I hope you enjoy your day all the way through.
It's an excuse to read & write poetry & have a vodka or 2.
I'm having a good day & wish the same to you.

It's good to let your hair down sometimes & have some fun.
 It's sometimes nice to take a break & have a cuppa & a bun.
We also have to get things done.
We've also got to finish things we've begun.

I love the elegance of rhyme.
I have done for a long time.

Poetry and Vodka too

Love this and you
Thank you Lady Ann ♥️

Do you ever have days when you just can't wake up properly although you drink so much coffee?
Do you ever have days when you can't think for toffee?
Do you ever have days when your head's a shed?
Do you ever have days when you wish you'd stayed in bed?
Do you ever have bad days?
Do you ever wish you'd done things different ways?
Do you ever have days when you can learn lots of things but can't express how you think or feel?
Do you ever have days which are the exact opposite which is you can express yourself but can't learn anything? These days make you feel an idiot for real.
You have to remember on days like this that you're just having a bad day.
You have to remember that the day will pass & you'll be yourself again in every way.
You can't beat yourself up just because you've had a bad day.
Calling yourself names isn't a good way.

Thank you Lady Ann. Lots of love sweet soul ♥️💙🦋

Wonderful Lady Ann!
Powerful poem.
I was nodding my head in agreement.
Many creatives have suffered.
Through family and loved ones.
From the ache and pain
Creativity flows.
They say comedians hurt deeply,
The good ones keep smiling to hide the strain of life

Beautiful work. Sending you love always. Sweet soul
♥️♥️♥️

I am so very proud of you!

Why do nature's gifts always have to come at a price?
Why does this price have to be a life that's not too nice?
How come you have to fight for & earn most of the good things in life?
How come no matter how nice you are & how much work you do, you always have trouble & strife?
Why do you think everything is going well then everything goes wrong?
Why do we always need a period of crying after a song?
Why does the news always have to be sad?
Why do there never seem to be enough reasons to be glad?
They say that life is what you make it.
I really don't believe it one bit.
They say money makes the world go round.
Lives & happiness are more important I found.

Lives and happiness are more important!
Money helps ... it’s a tool to assist on all our dreams

Love your words Lady Ann xx

Kindness & manners pay.
Though you could be forgiven for thinking differently in the world as it is today.
Etiquette seems to be forgotten about.
Some people always have to name-call & scream & shout.
So agree...etiquette seems forgotten

I wish you a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year.
Don't eat too much chocolate, Don't drink too much beer.
You might be teetotal & not drink alcohol at all.
Some people believe 3 wise men visited Jesus with gifts & on their knees did fall.
The gifts they brought were Frankincense, Myrrh & gold.
We still have gifts at Xmas now as in days of old.
 We also Carol sing.
 We sing of heaven's King.
 The church bells ring.
We remember the message the angel Gabriel did bring.
We remember the Magi following that star.
We remember the story of people for the census walking or riding donkeys so far.
We know this story whatever we believe & whoever we are.
We remember being told about St. Nicholas who is also known as Father Xmas or Santa Claus.
Some people believe (I don't) he brings good girls & boys Xmas presents & mine & yours.

Love this Lady Ann!

There are times when I wish I could live my life like the character in a book.
There are times when we have both good & bad luck.
Sometimes reading can be a great escape.
Sometimes we all make big mistakes.

You're welcome, Lady Divine. To tell you the truth I haven't used it since Clay renamed the section from the creative writers section because I don't write erotic fiction, I write a mixture of things & I didn't want to be seen as a writer of erotic fiction so I tried to keep all my works poetic so I could type them in my poetry place.

She undressed him with her go-to-bed eyes which were as blue as the sky on a bright, summer's day.
He caressed every single curve of her voluptuous body, except in 1 thing he always got his wicked way.
He wanted a menage-a-trois.
He never got very far.

Wishes

I wish I lived in a time where in the Highlands of Scotland, Highland ponies did roam.
I wish I lived in a time where to my family Dunoon was the place we called home.
I wish there was no more war.
I wish for all pestilential illnesses there was a cure.
I wish no one on earth had to be poor.
I wish there was an end to all these fights.
I wish no one had to assert their rights.
I wish everybody would everything share.
I wish everybody would for all the world & its animals & people care.

Life

They say life is full of ups & downs.
For me I've had less smiles than frowns.

I've had less laughs than cries.
I've had to say a lot of last goodbyes.

I keep myself together with a song.
I can't seem to do right for doing wrong.

All the good times I've had have been caused by my skills & the things I've done.
I think I must have the worst luck of anyone under the sun.

Isn't it annoying when your internet connection is on, goes off & then comes back on.
You try to answer people then 10 seconds after it's gone.

You end up having to type it out again & it does your head in.
Sometimes you feel like throwing your laptop in the bin.

Then you start thinking straight & think it would be a waste of your money.
Having to go out & buy another when there's nothing wrong with the one you've got isn't very funny.

In a dark, dark galaxy far away lived some aliens who were very intelligent & psychic & blue. They didn't speak to each other because they didn't need to as they always communicated using E.S.P. Their planet was all made up of different shades of red. Everything on their planet was red except the people & their cheese which was green. Their moon was green. They were always looking up at the sky to the nearest planet to them. This planet was blue & green & was made up of all different inhabitants. This planet had woods & seas. On this planet were countries. 1 of these countries had a dragon living at both ends in caves. At 1 end of this country was a red dragon who was wicked & breathed fire. Near his cave lived a wicked witch who had a big, black cat. She was married to an ogre. At the other end of the country was a green dragon who wasn't wicked but he didn't realise he breathed fire & was very upset when he hurt people by breathing on them & burning them. Near his cave lived a good witch who tried to help people. She was married to & lived with a wizard. They used to heal the people the dragon burnt & make him feel better about himself. In the middle there lived lots of normal people, ghosts who were nocturnal & huge, green monsters. There were also mines in this country. Down mines there lived a devil who terrorised people too. This country was always at war because the good witch could never get on with the bad witch.

So intriguing, fantastic story. I love it, Annie!

They were all venomous. There were also mines in this country. Down mines there lived a devil who terrorised people too. Generalisation on what some people are like

I wish people would stop judging other people on their looks.
They don't care whether people can draw, paint, make things, sing, play musical instruments or write poetry or books.

They also judge people on their voices.
They judge people not on their deeds but on their choices.

They don't realise that people can be intelligent even though they stutter.
They don't realise that people can be intellectual even if they mutter.

They are nasty to people who don't share their creeds.
They think it's good to say horrid things & do bad deeds.

They don't realise people can be smart if they can't walk.
They think you're stupid if you cannot talk.

They are very quick to put other people down.
Then they treat them as if they're crazy if they wear a frown.

They treat the elderly & disabled & people who are different to them as if they didn't matter.
They treat people who are bigger than them like dirt because their stomachs aren't flatter.

If you're faced with a lot of problems you don't have to wear a frown.
Write them down, work them out on paper & break them down.

You can then deal with them 1 piece at a time.
To do this isn't a crime.

It makes them easier to deal with.
Then you have more time the rest of your life to live.

You are free to be whoever you want to be.
It's the easiest way to be happy.

You have to be whoever you are.
If you do that you will go far.

You can lose track of who you really are if you always do what other people say.
You exhaust yourself & people take advantage of you & you can't please everyone at the end of the day.

Often if you have the opportunities & work hard enough the options are all in your mind.
Sometimes people will offer to help or advise you if you are kind.

Once you know the way in everything can be easy.
When you're happy everything can be bright & breezy.

Halloween is a time when children dress up as a witch, wizard, skeleton, vampire or ghost.
What costume they choose depends on what they like most.

They carry a carved pumpkin with a lit candle in.
Come on everybody, fill up your sweet tin.

You'd better stock up on your sweets.
They go round all the streets.

They go round all the houses calling "trick or treat".
They play a trick if they don't get a sweet.

If they don't get a treat they will play a trick.
They play the trick & then they run quick.

Songs are powerful indeed 😊

The power of a song

Do you know the power of a song?
Songs are a good way of expressing feelings.
They are especially helpful if you dance or sing along.
You can express feelings about your bad dealings.

You can express happiness, depression & rage.
Then you can let go of these feelings.
You can turn another page.
You can concern yourself with other dealings.

You can talk about subjects that are taboo.
You can express these feelings at a volume that goes through the roof.
You don't just have to give people an emotional clue.
You can tell them the truth.

Everyone can have a dance.
They may sing or play instruments if they get the chance.

Autumn

Autumn is a time when all the leaves from deciduous trees go red, yellow, orange & brown.
This makes some people wear a frown.

Then the leaves from deciduous leaves from the trees fall.
At Halloween the children dressed as witches, wizards, vampires & ghosts “trick or treat” call.

This is also a time when farmers their harvest reap.
If it's been poor they sometimes weep.

It's also a time when it gets cold & dull.
People start to wear clothes made of wool.

They do this to keep them warm.
We have the occasional storm.

To use manners it is free.
It's the nicest way to be.

It does not hurt to be kind.
Other's being good back is good for the mind.

If you're saying something harsh that needs to be said, use self-control.
You will find this is good for your soul.

It doesn't hurt in this instance to talk euphemistically & use diplomacy & tact.
This costs nothing but a bit of thought & that's a fact.
Dear Annie, your poems is amazing, phylosophic and beautiful.
Have a nice Sunday - weekend!

Once upon a time. there was an ancient King who had a long, grey beard
& moustache. This King lived in a palace constructed of pure crystal
that sparkled & flashed in the sunlight like a huge block of pure ice.
The palace was located in a gigantic garden & in this garden there
grew oranges & pears of all varieties & wild cherry trees & tulips,
roses & lilies-of-the-valley blossomed there & members of the tit &
parrot family sang with the robins, finches, red-caps & siskins. Other
than peacocks, these were the only birds that resided in his kingdom.
Pegasus lived there with unicorns & all other members of the equine
family. In the palace gardens were lots of large fountains which
sprayed right up to the top of the highest poplar trees imaginable.
Only 1 of these fountains was a water fountain. There was a tea & vodka
fountain for the adults & an orange & apple juice fountain & chocolate
 & milk fountain for everyone.

The old King only had 1 son who was heir to the Kingdom, a little boy
aged 7. He was a good boy who was never capricious & he went to bed &
got up early. The only bad habit he had was that he smoked. When he
was 20 he got T.B. caused by smoking & died. The aged man, decrepit &
ill was left without anyone to rule the Kingdom or to protect the
palace. Foes came & killed the old man & destroyed the palace & now
 there is nothing left whatsoever.

Who am I?

That should be the easiest question on earth.
I should just be able to tell of my country & details of birth.
I've got too many ancestors born elsewhere though.
I'm more Scottish than English where I was born & it does show.
I've got Irish & French ancestry too.
The question of my nationality, my head in does do.
I've got Scottish hair, tastes & ways of thinking.
My other origins, I've to my ancestors been linking.
I'm a woman as you've already guessed.
In a skirt or frock though I'm hardly dressed.
I've got thick, curly, brown hair.
About other people & animals I do care.
I need to wear spectacles though they don't benefit me much as 1 eye does a lot more work than the other.
My hobbies are reading, typing & singing so when my eyes play me up, I sing as hobbies not requiring sight I don't have another.
I love all animals except snakes, especially horses.
I've done lots of computer courses.

When you're out in the world, use a bin.
They're there to put all your rubbish in.

Don't throw your litter on the floor.
People could trip over it & more.

Please don't throw plastic bags away.
Birds could get hurt by them any day.

If you've got a dog, pick up its mess when you take it for a walk.
Don't throw away cans which can kill animals. About this it's time to talk.

Why do Fathers always have to be right?
If they're not they always start a fight.

Then you have to prove them wrong.
It's annoying when you know you're right all along.

If you don't do things their way they say you're doing it the wrong way.
They won't listen to anything you say.

They can also be very kind.
That is what you find.

They love you very much indeed.
They'll do you many a good deed.

You love them too but they can do your head in.
They like to make a lot of din & then you need cola & gin.

They can be very giving.
They can make your life worth living.

We want time team back.
 British t.v. now is slack.

We are sick of watching all the old time teams.
We want them with slightly different themes.

A programme with Tony to host & Phil to dig.
It's sure to be really very big.

The best programmes on t.v. are history & antiques programmes & coast.
These are the programmes we love the most.

Why does it have to be when you're answering followers that your twitter goes down?
It's enough to make vicars swear & you wear a frown.

It often happens in the middle of a chat?
I don't think much about that.

It makes your followers think you're being rude.
You think they'll worry so on this you brood.

You hope they don't think you're ignoring them.
Some actually think you are a gem.

Sometimes your keyboard decides to go slow.
Then the roller-ball on your laptop goes all over the show.

When you are typing something, auto-correct sometimes corrects things that are spelt right.
I'm sure when that happens sometimes some people think you are not very bright.

For when people feel down

Don't just sit there if you are feeling sad & blue.
Find something to do.

Things aren't that bad.
You don't have to be so mad.
You don't have to feel so sad.

When you feel that sad you  have to wear a frown.
Try wearing a smile & you won't be so down.

Tomorrow is always another day.
You can always see things another way.
You can sing, dance, laugh or play.

The sun will always cheer you up.
As well as tea or latte by the cup.

Listen to music & sing along.
Dance to the song.
You can't go wrong.

There is nothing better than a good book.
It doesn't hurt to have a look.

You're never as bad as you make yourself out to be.
Have faith in yourself & others will have faith in thee.
I know, it's happened to me.

Thank you very much Jenny. It really means a lot to me to have a professional like you say that to me when I've never been published. 1 of my followers on twitter advised me to start writing again. He said with my command of spelling, punctuation & grammar he thought I'd be good at it. I tried some poems first as I was best at it. I was inspired by Anton Chekhov's stories of Russian life too. A song to ISIS sung by an American inspired me to write my song as I was good at song-writing at school. Dad had been trying to get me to write too. I told my follower I'd wrote the short stories & he told me that was great. He asked me if I was going to get them published & advised me to enter competitions. I'm glad you're enjoying my work. Why can't you think straight when you're mad?
Why can't you think straight when you're sad?

This fight/flight/freeze response is out of date.
I detest people who are full of hate.

Singing normally calms me down.
It normally rids me of the frown.

Singing a song with lots of high notes lets of steam.
Singing a crescendo normally works a dream.

That's because if you express anger vocally a crescendo mimics this.
It starts quiet getting louder until it reaches a climax that's easy to miss.

The sound of bagpipes keeps me calm.
I find it has a great deal of charm.

Reading helps cheer me up a lot too.
I read books wrote like Victorians used to do.

Horseland

Once upon a time there was a very old king who had a long, grey beard & moustache. He was called Harry. This king lived in a palace of pure crystal that sparkled & flashed in the sunlight like a great, big block of pure ice. The palace stood in a great, big garden & in this garden where all his people lived because he was such a nice king, there grew oranges, pears & wild cherry trees & tulips, roses & lilies-of-the-valley blossomed there & bright-coloured birds sang.  All the birds in his Kingdom were bright-coloured & Pegasus lived there & there were unicorns & ponies, horses & donkeys in Horseland because he used to have a lovely wife called Angela who used to love horses but was turned into a fairy by an old witch who she defeated but could never regain her human appearance & all the other animals had turned into the ones Angela loved most. Pegasus is a winged horse. On nice, bright, sunny days Harry used to ride Pegasus over his palace & garden to admire the lovely view & visit a land a few miles away from him called Beachland where there were lots of lovely sandy beaches & he could paddle in the nice, cool, relaxing water which was that clean he could see the fish swim over his feet or lay on the nice, clean sand which was as white as snow & listen to the birds singing & go to sleep until it got too cold. In the palace gardens were lots of large fountains which sprayed right up to the top of the highest trees you can imagine & 1 of these fountains was a water fountain. There was also an orange juice & apple juice fountain as well as a cola & lemonade fountain. To cap it all, there was a milk fountain & a chocolate fountain. These fountains produced the nicest tasting drinks ever that just quenched your thirst then made you want more.

Harry had only 1 son who was heir to the Kingdom, a little boy aged 7. His name was Mark. He was a good boy & always went to bed early & got up early, he never did anything wrong. Mark had blonde hair & he could play any instrument you can name & he danced & acted well but couldn't sing very well. Every time Mark sung the ice shattered & the birds flew away except the peacock. He was very artistic & very clever indeed.

When Mark got to the age of 16, he went to the neighbouring country which was very similar to the 1 his father ruled but was full of all different kinds of dogs because he used to have a wife who was the wicked witch that Angela had defeated called Eve. Eve's land was under a spell that changed all the other animals into nice dogs until her daughter found a handsome prince to marry. If anyone was ever cruel to the dogs they got turned into dogs themselves. It was called Dogland. Dogland was ruled by a King very much like his father but he only had 1 daughter. This King was called Don. His daughter was called Dawn. Dawn was the same age as Mark but she had dark hair which was very curly. She made mistakes sometimes though & although she was very clever & could sing & act couldn't dance or play any musical instruments. The mistakes she made were due to her not being very good with her hands. She broke cups, saucers & plates every time she washed up. Every time she sung though everything she broke repaired itself. Now as soon as he 1st saw her he fell in love with her & she felt the same way. They both spoke to their parents who agreed to pay for their wedding.

He got married in a kilt suit & had pipers playing at the wedding. She wore a gold dress to the wedding. Her ring was encrusted with every single gem you could mention. They had a gold horse-drawn carriage to take them to the church where they married. The page boys wore formal suits & the brides-maids wore Amethyst coloured silk dresses. Everyone had the biggest party you could imagine afterwards & were so happy & both Kings built a new palace in between the Kingdoms. This palace was solid gold & they had beautiful children & lived happily ever after.

The end.

What if?
What might Britain have been like if the Romans hadn't invaded Britain & kept the Scots over Hadrian's wall & then Antoninus's wall?
We might have all been like the Scots are now but without the baths, drainage system, straight roads, literacy & numeracy skills, cheese, wine & money.

What would have happened if Edward I hadn't been such a greedy King?

If the Romans hadn't have invaded Britain, it wouldn't have mattered as Edward I would have ruled the whole of Britain anyway. If Edward I hadn't been such a greedy King he would have been satisfied with just ruling England & wouldn't have fought to rule Wales & Scotland too. All them lives would have been saved. He wouldn't have earned his nickname of "Hammer of the Scots". Robert the Bruce wouldn't have been pressurised to change sides by his father & William Wallace might not have been defeated, captured, tried & executed for treason.

What if William III of Orange hadn't ordered everyone to pay allegiance to him?

He wouldn't have given the Campbell's an excuse to murder their worst enemies the McDonald's. If the Campbell's & McDonald's of Glencoe hadn't been worst enemies they would have explained to William of Orange why the McDonald's of Glencoe were late & the massacre of Glencoe wouldn't have occurred.

What if the Highland clearances hadn't occurred?

There would be more people living in the highlands & less sheep.

If all these events hadn't occurred & the 2 world wars Scotland wouldn't have all their songs as a lot of Scottish songs like "Scots wha hae", "Scotland the brave", "The ballad of Glencoe", "The Skye Boat Song", "Bonnie Dundee", "The Wallace" & "Willie McBride" wouldn't exist.

Equines

In my opinion, equines are the nicest animals on earth.
I've thought that since not long after my birth.

Equines are horses, ponies & donkeys too.
That information is for those without a clue.

At 1 time, most of the world without them would be at a standstill.
They were transport, pulled canal boats & worked in the mine & mill.

They also used to pull the plough.
It's a shame they don't do it now.

I love this one :) The others are great too though...

My protest song

Verse 1
I want an end to all this killing
That is God or Allah willing.
It isn't very thrilling.
In fact I find it chilling.

Chorus

I want an end to war.
That is what I want
I will never end the fight until they stop the war.
No-o war, no-o gore, no-o pain better pla-a-ace

Verse 2
Killing & thefts are against all creeds.
You're just wanting to do the deeds.
Of evil, you're sowing the seeds.
They're not due to any needs.

Verse 3
History & antiquities need to be preserved
They also need to be conserved.
They don't need to be destroyed.
Less destruction needs to be employed.

Verse 4
I want to know what all this fighting & destruction is for.
I want an end to all this war.
I want it to be solved by the jaw.
I  want everything solved by justice & law.

Cake, cake, beautiful cake.
Nice to eat & lovely to bake.
Don't eat a cake that is fake.
If you do your teeth will break.
Cake, cake, beautiful cake.
