Masterclass, you haven't done your Upset Pick of the  Day thread. Remember? That was a lot of fun.

It's going to be very interesting, a lot of pressure for Rafa, Novak, and Andy. Stan can breathe easier knowing how much duress those three are under. Stan just won that tournament over Cilic; signaling his return?

Bad break for Federer having back issues and breaking that amazing streak of consecutive majors, but should be well rested for Wimbledon and get in a lot of preparation while everyone else will be battle tested and coming off of either highs or lows.

Who do I want to win? That's a no brainer. Who might win? I'm not going to jinx my Rafa. It's hard to say who might make a good run here as the winners on the clay this year hasn't been any standouts.

Good luck to all and may the best man win (Rafa).

Post by: masterclass on March 29, 2016, 05:39:00 am
Main Draw Dates: 22 May–5 June 2016 (Sunday Start)
Prize Money: €16,008,750
128 Draw
Surface: Red Clay*
Balls: Babolat Roland Garros

The French Open at Roland Garros begins May 16th, 2016 with qualifying matches.  The draw will be in this post when available

Ever since 1925, when the tournament was opened to international competition, the tournament has been the premier Clay tennis championship in the world.

Stade Roland-Garros was opened in 1928 and has been the home of the French Open ever since.

Center Court is named Philippe Chatrier, and has often been called the "Battlefield of the Gods".
The court's area is unusually large, and a proper setting for what is generally known as the most physically demanding tournament in tennis.
The men play best of 5 set matches, and the final set does not have a tiebreaker. The clay usually plays slow and diminishes the big men's service game.

It has been dominated by the iron men of tennis, players such as Nadal, Borg, Lendl.
Top players such as Sampras never won it, and of late, Djokovic has struggled in his multiple attempts to win.
Will this finally be Novak's year?

Here is the main draw:

Defending 2015 Champion: Stan Wawrinka

Centralized Roland Garros Discussion here.
Speculate about the draw, talk about your favorites.
Once the draw is out, talk about players paths to the final.

Which player would you like to win (even if their chances are not good)?
Finally, which player do you think will win?
