Hi everyone ;)
My name is Yelle Hughes...for real, it's not a pseudonym. It's actually my nickname I've had since I was little and it's pronounced just like jelly.
There's two stories as to why my mom called me this weird name.

Real quick: first, my grandma was a huge fan of the old show the Beverly Hillbillies and she called me Ellie after Ellie Mae Clampett. My uncles still call me that today, lol. Second, I tend to talk really loud and my mom just added the "Y" and it's stuck ever since.

Now that I'm older, I try to tone it down, but...you know

Anyway, I'm so glad to be here and I am so pleased that Clay not only invited me to join Camelot, he also went out of his way to put a sig together for me with my own artwork.

I am the author of multicultural/romance/fantasy/comedy Greek mythology in modern times series (yea, that's a mouthful) called the Aegean Chronicles.

I have several books under my belt that have been published. A few are some anthologies that I've written with Janet Morris, if you've ever heard of her, she's awesome...been around a long time and I have three published novels that I did for myself.

I've been a Greek mythology nut since I was in 7th grade and actually started my first story back then. It was just doodling and never thought I would actually publish a book on it.

So life when by, got married, had kids, worked hard then promptly got fired during the horrible year of 2009. The kids were grown and I had no idea what to do next. I threw caution in the wind and booked a trip to Greece all by myself. I was scared poopless but I did it and I had the best time.

That motivated me to pick up my old doodling and finish. With self-publishing today, I was able to make a 2nd dream of mine come true. Going to Greece being the first.

I'm a pretty simple person, if not a little long-winded ;) but I try my best. I have several occupations under my hat: mom, writer, photographer, digital artist, phlebotomist and career counselor. Life has been a blessing and I can't complain...too much.

I hope you like the stuff I post and I do look forward to chatting with the group.

The pic below is me with my tour guide, Michael...He thought I was crazy, lol!

I have yet to make it to Greece. maybe one day I can get there.

Hi Yelle! You're welcome. I went into retail. All my friends, family & teachers wanted me to go to college but I thought I'd have been bullied like I was at school. I wish I'd gone now. I'd have probably done something with French, history or drama. I did a few P.C. courses later on & had some experience in offices. Accountancy sounds interesting. I did daily & weekly sales records & weekly figures sheets. I'm very glad you're happy with your life. Your children sound good. I've got a tambourine, guitar, accordion & harmonica I'm teaching myself to play. I sound o.k. on everything except the guitar. I only play harmonica when I've got a sore throat as I love singing. Lol.

Hi and thank you, Ann!
I took art in high school and my art teacher said that with practice I could be good, this is freehand now, but my counselor suggested that I would be better off in working in business  :P as a damn secretary (I'm dating myself, lol) so, I dropped art and went into accounting.

I still can't draw worth a damn, but I do think I have an artistic mind and I found programs that would help me bring the things in my head to life.

I took flute and I wish I kept up with it, I could be playing in an orchestra somewhere, but I'm happy to watch to my kids take up the music mantel.
One of them even goes to graduate school for it, so I'm happy with my life choices. :)

Hi! I'm Ann. I love your artwork. I was never any good at art at school & when I was forced to choose an arts subject I had to choose drama & theatre arts (which I loved) as I couldn't choose music as I could only sing because I never got a chance to learn a musical instrument at school because I always passed voice test so had to sing in music & join the choir. I'm rather chatty too. Welcome.
