But with the elderly it is not uncommon to develop a certain amount of dementia due to the deterioration of brain cells that comes from the natural aging process. This can cause sporadic dementia, like forgetting appointments or car keys. Now if the person has other factors like a known family history of Alzheimer's then they should be checked for other signs and symptoms that show up with the disease.
