I was over there today too, and it is a horrible mess as you said.

People were fighting like cats and dogs and somehow I ended up in the middle of it! These nuts kept trying to draw me in but I kept responding with LOLs, because they have zero logic to me.

It was funny because some of those people are sooo emotionally attached to Federer. I don't understand it all.

Anyway, about the match. I wasn't disappointed at all, even though I'm not a fan of Stan's.

As soon as I started watching the match I got this funny feeling. That got my senses going and I began to watch more keenly. Seriously, in the first set I knew something was wrong. For one, I had expected Nadal to come out firing, but he had a funny look on his face. I may have to watch it again, and maybe I wasn't paying that much attention at first because those commentators get on my nerves so bad.

So, I'm sitting there thinking, this doesn't look right. But I dismissed. The next thing I knew they were doing warm ups and I got that feeling again.

After Stan served I still hadn't figured out what was wrong, but to me, Nadal had an uneasy look on his face. And when he started to serve he wasn't aggressive at all. He also wasn't running much for the ball. Now, my head is cocked and I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

Then he took the MTO and I was like, that's it. I knew what I had not been able to articulate. So, seeing that he was hurt, I was like oh well. There's nothing you can do about that.

Anyway, Stan irked me by acting like a tool on court in his first major final. Sorry, flame me, but I thought it was disgusting. Here you are a newbie acting a fool when an all time great is sharing the court. I don't get into that, at all. Respect.

It didn't help that his buddy exited a couple of days before and had some backhanded comments to make as well.

So...

Honestly, I wasn't happy for Stan as I would have been for anyone else.

At the same time, it was one tournament, and it's over.

On to the next one, lol.

I'm sorry that cracks me up.

I missed the andy vs Federer match but that is why Camelot has a tennis videos center.

I will catch it in between tournaments.

I can assure you that Federer is winning again but he looks anything but happy out there at times.

I saw him again throw his arms up and also offer a few looks of disgust when nadal would hit his passing shots or an inside out forehand.

Federer needs to change that aspect of his personality and applaud a little bit when somebody hits a remarkable shot. it cools the sting and allows you to look forward to the next point in a more positive light.

his meeting with nadal at the net after the match was also somewhat cold and brief.

at any rate it is what it is. these guys are global sports superstars. they do what they want to do. they know they bring home the bacon.

nike sells billions of dollars of worth of merchandise because or nadal, federer, and tiger woods.

nadal has become the number one global draw in tennis.

we have created "the masterclass fireside" at the tennis discussion page. I think it has some promise.

we will all help him of course in any way we can.

I didn't pay any attention to Federer as he is always a bit cold to me. But he seemed to have a chip on his shoulder because he was playing well and didn't appreciate Nadal taking it to him.

They have lauded and heralded Federer so much that he himself believes he is all that. Pity.

The invisible force behind Stan the Man: Magnus Norman.

He's so good looking, no? I remember him back in the 90s against Pete especially. Very good player on clay so he might help Stan to get the RG this year or at least go for it. Stan seems natural on it though hard has got to be his best surface. Has now beaten Murray (2013 USO), Nole and Nadal (2014 AO). All in last six months.

lets see if he can beat a healthy andy murray and a healthy nadal.

I don't know what the hell is going on with nole. he was everybody's favorite for the title.

they all picked him to breeze right through.

1. peter bodo picked nole
2. Stephen tignor picked nole
3. Richard pagliaro picked nole

bookies picked nole. the whole world picked nole.

he slipped or caved in a tiny bit in the very end against stan and that cost him a chance to be in the final.

I believe it was stans's serve in crucial moments that allowed him to stay in the match with nole. stan served big and nole did not return as well as he can.

I have added fireplaces at a few other places here too.

it is winter and also these animated fireplaces bring a little bit of life to Camelot. now at least the place looks alive to some extent.

Sampras was all class all the time.

nole has matured a great deal over the years. he does not engage in much gamesmanship anymore.

nadal just has his superstitions. I don't care for some of them but what can you do.

nadal's problem is that he is obsessed with his superstitions. uncle tony has told him to stop many times but he is just going to do it his way.

I had a few of them too. all tennis players have their various superstitions.

at any rate I think this was a huge opportunity for nadal. he failed to capitalize. its not often that one gets to reach slam #14. that would have placed him 3rd in history.

he also had a chance to become the first man in the open era to win each slam twice.

I know exactly what happened:

he is not as fit as he used to be. he also spent considerable mental and physical capital in 2013 and then he just kept on going trying to chase the #1 rank.

he played abu dhabi and he played Doha which he won.

its the accumulation of all this effort that forced his body to just quit. you sustain injuries at this level when you are fatigued.

he was all over the court and spent major physical and mental capital in order to run over Federer.

the man hit the wall final. he was fatigued and the back went as a result of that. you can just look at his face. he looks like a ghost. he is seriously fatigued.

it was not anything stan was doing. nadal lost the first set to nishikori also. and he lost the first set to dimitrov. stan played great in the first set but so did nishikori and dimitrov.

nadal's level has dropped since the u.s. open and he has to work too hard to win his matches.

take away the back injury and he probably finds his way back into the match. it would have been a tough battle but he would have found a way back.

He'll be fine. I'm just glad it's over.

The only thing is that he doesn't have a lot of recovery time. He's on his way to another tournament I thought I read.
