  both of his last 2 matches (semifinal and the final) at the 2008 Beijing Olympics were high quality. he was hitting his forehand just right.

  its a just a damn shame he is so terrified of the net.
  
  he has never bothered to learn to volley well at the net. and I can assure you that it has cost him some matches because of that. also the game is just too difficult as it is. why make it even more difficult.
  
  
  
  just watch his very first attempt at a volley at the net in the first game against nole in that 2008 Beijing Olympics semifinal. it was an easy backhand sitter volley and he pushed it into the net. it cost him the game.

  I am still watching the gold medal match from Beijing (2008 Olympics) that I just posted at the video center. I wanted to relive the first sets.
  
  nadal leads 4-1 in the first set.

• his groundstrokes were unbelievable in this match. and the forehand was the forehand of death.
  
  astonishing stuff. I am just amazed at the forehand. he basically did not miss back then.
  
  
  couple of glaring liabilities even back then and he has not done anything to improve those. he was afraid of the net and he often missed when he chose to push the returns backs.
  
  he did well when he chose to actually prepare well and hit those returns back.
  
  he also did not touch his nose 4-6 times before and after each point back then. I think he is throwing off his own rhythm when he does that.
  
  also he is the one who is usually more fit than the others so why give them extra time to recover.

  there are about 9 people viewing and hardly anybody around.

  I came across still another forum the other day which had around 3000 members and it was completely dead.
  
  
  I think we are all in a bit of a slow period. only places where you see plenty of noise is places that have 25000-30000 members like tennis warehouse and MTF.
  
  things will quiet down at most boards because the season is over with and we have thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner.
   lot of folks will be traveling while others taking a short break from tennis.
  
  things will start picking up almost instantly after Christmas. abu dhabi starts on December 26th.
  
  we could see some growth here at Camelot around the time Australian Open starts up.
