herc, thanks for posting that cafe picture on the main page! I do think the size is still a bit too big - should be half the size. I also noticed all the people in that cafe are all old! OMG lol. I really like old people but my cafe should reflect the youth. Oh well.

And thanks for Andy's pictures. All on clay. There's something so ironic about that. I now for a fact he doesn't like playing on clay all that much. Not only his movement is slightly compromised but also, he doesn't' have any true desire for it. I mean if he had he would have played some small tourney at least in his early years and could have won a few. But now that both RG and Wimbledon are so back to back and he's so keen on grass, I doubt he'll give too much effort come RG. Perhaps later in his years when he'll enough grass titles, he might want to give it a shot...like Sampras did in 1996. Wimbledon was so precious to Sampras that he'd never pay much attention to RG. If possible he would have skipped it but then there's this overall ranking points involved and he needed to make a decent appearance there without taking much injury risk just before Wimbledon. He also cared about the #1 ranking a great deal so that was a factor.

we will try to fix it tomorrow emma.

still andy needs to spend time on clay to develop further and maintain his awesome ground game. a couple of years ago he had nole on the ropes in rome.

andy can play well on clay. its just a very demanding surface and his back has been bothering him for at least a couple of years now.

check out this image I just created:

I personally see Andy focusing more on grass and hard in that order. Nole might rule clay in the coming years. Andy might get an RG at some point. He's not very comfortable on clay and doesn't enjoy sliding as much.

The picture looks much better, herc. Much better than before on the main page. Thanks!

Well good night for now.

thanks lady emma. I gave it a bit of an elegant look.

also not it does not look out of place. we can have at least one image slightly bigger.

we will continue to tinker around until we find a best way to present the forum to the world.

our goal is to have about 200 members in 3 years time and have at least 25-30 of them post somewhat regularly. I think that is probably going to happen. we just have to be patient.
it will be a cool, calm, quiet, and a peaceful forum where people can do whatever the hell they please.

tennis4you has well over 4000 and nobody cares to post there. a few imbeciles there killed that forum.

also I bet any money that alex will be right back there. I am surprised he has not made his way here. we will perma ban his sorry ass the second he even drives by Camelot.

Suffering depression at the moment. Not content with much things in life. Hopefully it will improve soon.

Yourself?

I am okay at the moment. Thanks.

What's causing your depression? I know you have a bit of girlfriend issues and maybe something physical as well - anything else I should know about?

Maybe it's time you reexamine your life and start asking the bigger questions. And find out what makes you really happy. There has to be something...something you can hang to or hold on to. Best thing in life no matter how hard or easy it is, no one is going to get out of it alive. So why not live it while you can and make the best out of whatever you've got?

A lot of things.

Recently I was diagnosed with aspergers.

I am also struggling to find a job. And I do not talk well with girls

In general I feel awful.

herc, Murray's World also has over 4000 members; however, only 15 to 20 posters post on a daily basis but since they post almost all day, it keeps the forum very active.

Tennis Frontier has about 200 members but the active posters make it a very nice place by posting some quality posts. Not as much chit chat or going after each other for no reason and more to the point. I'd rather have the onset of TF.

I can't honestly say that T4U was ever all that good anyway. Back in 2008, 2009 and 2010 I had seen a lot of fruitless arguments going back and forth by Federer and Nadal fans. That place has always been about that. Same goes for Tennis Warehouse. There are just one too many threads/posts about Federer and Nadal. Very off putting for me.

Very sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with aspergers. My youngest brother who was a teenager at that time was diagnosed with this strange rare disease. While he looked alright on the outside, it was eating him alive on the inside. He suffered 7 long years and fought to no end to survive this, but couldn't fight anymore as there was no cure for it - not then or now. So after fighting that hard, he still died as a teenager. Since my mum died when I was 16 and he was 8, I took care of him and he was my baby brother. After he died, I went into shock and was very depressed for 5 years straight.  Couldn't do anything and had to drop out of school. So I understand but at least you can live with it and work around it. I wish he had lived even with a disease but lived. What I loved the most about him was the fact he'd never let himself get depressed even when his mum died at such a young age and even when he was constantly on the verge of dying and eventually died. That taught me many things including never to get depressed no matter what.

affirmative lady emma.

the great baron britbox has a winning formula going. I wish him much success.

the only issue I see their is their extra clickishness which can make the newcomers a bit shy.

and they really don't care for the chat.

general august made a post at their frontier chat bar and 5 days later somebody responded to it. naturally it was baron who was considerate enough to go there and say hello back to general august.

they tend to be overly clickish at the tennis discussion place and not active enough at an important place like the chat section.

now on the plus side, extreme clickishness also means a tightly knit group which can keep a forum going. at any rate baron is doing a good job of making it happen there.

I have learned that it is far easier for folks to get comfortable at the chat area than at the tennis discussion place right from get go.

and at vast majority of the forums, its the chat sections that drive growth.

people want to relax and they don't really want to talk tennis 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

you can do both at chat sections in a relaxed way.

I nearly died of thirst last time I popped by for a coffee. I hope full service has resumed ;)
A old fashioned british cup of tea and a slice of carrot cake please...

So what's new?

Different people use forums for different purposes, herc. Not necessarily everyone who joins will go into chitchat especially given that it's a tennis forum first. So best not to expect the same from everyone. For example, my nature is very different and it's a bit rare for me to actually greet every new comer on any forum and get into chitchats with them in order to make them comfortable. That's why I don't own a forum and don't want to be a moderator etc. What baron does I can't do it. It's his forum and his going to care about these posters and he'll make sure all the new comers are greeted well and that makes sense. So bottom line everyone has different priority and we should just let people be and not expect the same from everyone because that's what we like. That would be imposing our own likings onto others.

Also, once people get comfortable talking tennis with the other posters, only after that they get into chitchat - a lot of the cases in fact. I don't believe it's the other way. I've definitely never done that. I talked tennis first, got familiar with the posters, and their views before I engaged myself chitchatting with them. TF was a bit different because I already knew a few posters but mind you, I wasn't comfortable browsing around as much because I didn't expressed my tennis view as much there. Had I done the other way, I probably wouldn't have left who knows. I am sure people who are a bit shy type would be far more comfortable making general tennis related posts at first than anything else. Because I am sure they wouldn't want to draw as much attention initially because chitchatting and relaxing means being open and sharing personal information at times. So anyway, that's my 2 cents on that.

Eh, I don't think people die of thirst for a cup of coffee. Water, yes. Coffee, no. lolol

Full service for you maybe since you seem to be a very demanding customer. Will I get fired next time? :P

And here you go. And some extra on the house. Don't get too comfortable now! :)

Oh and here's a slice of carrot cake.

As to what's new, well, today I had left all my keys at work - ditzy that I am. I only realized it after getting off the train and trying to get into my car as I couldn't find my keys. I had a spare key for my car (as it has happened before and I'd made false promise to myself to make some spare) so I was able to come home, but then I had another problem - I did not have a spare key to my apartment. So I had to wait at the lobby for the security guard and he showed up about 20 minutes later, as he had something to do somewhere. Anyway, he said he'd have to call the building manager before he opened my apartment. So that took another 10 minutes. Finally I was home. So that's new. :)

What's new with you? How's the weather? Did you enjoy Nole and Del Potro's win this past week? Most importantly, is herc forcing you to be here? :) lol Don't feel obligated - only be here if and when you feel like it.

that is a great post. I would have to agree.

baron has a winning formula and I wish him all the success in the world. I always try to help him when I can.

at some of the bigger forums,  the tennis discussion page is just madness and chaos. it is really difficult to engage anybody without 20 other people attacking you or confronting you for no reason at all.

that used to happen a lot at MTF for example. I see some of that at Tennis Warehouse as well.

so what I found was that a lot of people would just avoid the tennis discussion page and do their business at their various chat threads.

there was some appeal to interacting with some of the regulars on regular basis and then there was also the opportunity to venture out to see what was happening on the main tennis discussion page.

we may have to ask the great baron britbox lady emma.

he might be able point us in the right direction. those emoticons are goofy looking here.
