Hey CD, have you seen Javi here lately? He is nowhere to be found, it seems. I asked him something on Facebook but he hasn't read my message yet. I also haven't seen him posting on MTF (don't really go there these days but I haven't seen his name popping up anywhere when I stopped by yesterday).
Not that my question is really urgent or anything.

Hi TT, not everything I am sure. And I am not 'correcting' you by any means but only giving you a different perspective of things. Perhaps my approach was too direct and you probably found it something personal.
I have in fact agreed and disagreed with you in the past. Very recently, we have agreed on Sharapova's scream and how annoying it is (lol) and the fact that both Serena and Sharapova get way more attention than anyone else. You and herc agreed that you don't like DC as a comm and I said I like him. And things were left at that. Then I went on to agree with you on Brit comms who are very negative when it comes to Andy and how some of the American comms are just the same etc. And we agreed on Sampras as well.
And what you said about Del Potro, if you had said that anywhere else, you would have gotten some reaction from fans who like DP or if they had found your comments wrong. And it's not only you I had addressed but it was adressed to herc as well.
As to the Spanish players, well, my original question was to herc in fact. You volunteered so I had to answer back, so I wasn't really picking on you. You are perfectly entitled to like all the Spanish players in the world, but it was just my observation that Spanish players are very popular among Indian and British people. I've seen a few instances on Murray's World during my stay there. And not only that, it goes back as far as 1998 (CNN forum) where I had encounter something similar. I just wanted to know the reason behind it and I noticed that they all have different answers - just failed to locate a true connection that's all. But it's true that I don't base my liking of a player on their nationality. A lot of the times when I like a new player, I don't even where's he or she's from. Because I see tennis as more of an individual game, I prefer to see things based on that rather than just blanket liking that is more based on nationality. Just a different opinion of mine than yours - that's all.
The talent subject on my part was just trying to have a discussion as I've done it many times in the past. I don't remember anyone taking personally to be honest and I am sorry that you feel that way. You will notice that herc and I don't agree at least half the times but very rarely we have argued - now or in the past. I suppose he doesn't take me too seriously. Most times he doesn't even reply back lol. We just move on to discuss different stuff but our friendship remains intact.
Anyway, I am sorry again that you feel this way. I will be careful not to say anything that might upset you. Opinions are opinions in the end and any forum is all about that - even this one. -

Last night's match was so frustrating. Andy was supposed to serve out for the match at 5-4 but got broken instead. And then even worse, he went on to lose the TB. I was up almost all night because of this drama.
Anyway, while it took him 4 sets to put away Robert, he did not spend more time than Nadal, who btw had a bit of a tough time against Nishi. In the end, Andy played 36 games as opposed to Nadal's 38 and Federer's 31 games. I take it though Federer/Tsogna was a crappy match. So I don't think Andy spent too much time out there but he could have afforded less, when he had the opportunity especially given his opponent. -

Big news in Canada btw Bouchard vs Ivanovic. Hopefully Bouchard will get through.
On the men's side, will be pulling for Berdych and Nole. Will be missing all the men's matches though. -

he has driven by Camelot once or twice but did not bother to stop and say hello.
he did post long ago at Emma's café but never returned.
last I heard he was posting at the castle at MTF and asking people to play some sort of online game with him.
i myself have not been to mtf or any other forum in a long time so i don't know if he is posting anywhere.
he and Feldman certainly should be in a posting mood by now: their player is playing incredible tennis again. roger is blazing the trails again.

Spot on, except for the crappy match part.
I watched the entire match and in my eyes it was at least a fair to good match even though it was a straight set win. I've seen a few more exciting and competitive slam matches between them (e.g. Wimby 2011, AO 2013), but this was by no means poor unless one is fixated on the straight set result. Not many matches at the AO this year so far have seen both players hitting more winners than unforced errors - Mr. Tsonga 29|28, Mr. Federer 43|21. My preference is to see points won rather than lost. BTW, I posted stats of the match are in the AO discussion thread.
Tsonga could have served somewhat better (putting more 1st serves in play), but other than that I thought he played fairly well considering Federer played quite well, aggressively, coming to the net often, and with relatively few errors, and took time away from Jo to play his game. Jo hung in there but couldn't break Federer's serve which was very strong almost all night. Roger averaged only 1 point lost/service game and saved the only break point he faced. Perhaps Jo had a chance once or twice to wrest control of the match, but Federer was able to fend them off. Jo is a very dangerous player, and I think if Federer had weakened at all, Jo would have had a much better end result.
Federer was quicker around the court than I've seen him in a while and was able keep Jo from physically dominating the match as you may see from some of the highlights here (No, I don't have the full match yet):

andy should have been able to get rid of him in straights. he had him on the ropes.
i saw the nadal match. nadal says his blisters do not hurt but one of them is a blood blister so it has to hurt. i saw him grimace once or twice.
nishi is a talented athlete. he was hitting the ball quite well. but this was hardly one of nadal's better matches. he seemed slow and sluggish.
he produced a lot of errors and could not find much range off the ground. he also pushed way too many balls back which allowed nishikori to go after them.
all the players are saying that courts are playing faster than last year so that is a factor for nadal. -

great post general masterclass. i just read that roger's aggressive game plan worked well against Tsonga. i will catch this match later tonight from our CETSVids Global Tennis Video Center.
i said a while back at tennis frontier that the big 4 are back and they are. its just a shame that the draw ended up being so damned one sided. all of the toughest players ended up being on one side.
now i have confidence in Spartan Stan so lets hope he gets the monkey off his back and takes down a top player. his record against the top guns is dismal.
i think its time Spartan Stan takes it to the next level. -

You know what I think? I think I will let Federer fans get ahead of themselves.
In any case, Tsonga is known for his inconsistency. Murray is a better player than him and has already dealt with Federer - twice - on big occasions and he likes to play Federer. You do the math.
But granted, Andy's not in good shape both physically or mentally after the surgery. He looked in fact a bit tired in the 3rd set or he probably just wasn't interested enough in Robert. lol -

you know with this amazing performance that roger produced against Tsonga, one has to believe that it is going to be a tight contest now against andy.
i think it is possible that we have a 5 setter on our hands.
roger has had no trouble getting used to the bigger stick. i thought it might take a little longer.
it is not that easy to call emma: sure andy can win but he has to return well and get his break opportunities. even if one does not convert on majority of those break opportunities, it still produces tremendous pressure against your opponent.
so here is the key for andy: return well and pass well.
if he can do that then he wins.
there has to be reasonable length to andy's shots. we know that roger is going to play an attacking type of game and he is going to go forward on any and all short balls.
the courts are playing quicker than last year.
one problem with predicting this match is that we don't really know if andy is 100% with the back issue.
so roger is going to have his chances. will he capitalize? -
