TT, Dimitrov was definitely ball bashing but because he was lacking confidence, he came up short on most shots. Nadal is of course far smarter than this and was under the sun one too many times.

And yes, agree. He does love the comparison. His game very much reflects Federer' which he must have modeled upon though he wouldn't admit it. The only thing that doesn't resemble too much of Federer is that, Dimitrov plays too far behind the baseline at times and yesterday, he was further behind than Nadal ever was in his whole career. It suits Nadal since that's his style of play but if you are going to be aggressive and attacking, that position doesn't make any sense.

He definitely could have played better if he hadn't tried to be such a showboat as you mentioned. I didn't mind the way he lost though. It was time Nadal put him in place.

Raonic gave a fantastic fight on the other hand. I was at least 70% sure Nole was losing the match to him as soon as he got to 2nd set TB. But luckily or not, Nole pulled off the TB and perhaps a bit of choking from Raonic was involved too.

Exactly, that's bullcrap. I read once where he was supposedly "offended by the comparisons," and I was like yeah, right. Love or hate Federer, there's no way you can actually be offended by someone saying you have similar styles.

I'm shocked that Raonic played so well. He has been making good progress here lately. And he seems mature for his years. Good for him.

milos is a rising star princess emma.

his best is yet to come.

he is paying his dues right now on the atp tour so to speak.

he does have a bit of a history of getting tight in the clutch moments. winning will take care of that. he has to keep working hard.

Agree! He is acting very mature, putting in the hard yards, and not looking for others to fawn over him (at least it seems that way). He's made significant progress during the last six months, so good for him.

Milos' biggest problem is his inconsistency. You never know these days when he'll peak or when he'll go down.

Love him or hate him, guys but I love my Nole. Herc knows that I've been supporting Nole and Andy for a long time now. Since 2007 in fact and perhaps longer. So here's some pictures of the happy winner.

Here's a picture of the runner up, Nadal.

que pasa general shanks.

I never saw the match general. I also never bothered to deal with the award ceremony.

its over and done with. I am waiting for Rafa to lift his 9th RG trophy now.

I firmly believe that he will do it. he is good at turning losses around.

also he does not lose any RG finals. I believe he will play a very focused and a very clean match in the final at RG.

Ha ha ha. Me either. I stopped watching after Nadal won the first set. I had to clean off my DVR in preparation for the French. I watched a few games of the second set and Rafa didn't seem himself so I quit watching it altogether and came back at the end to watch the last few point. Then, I deleted it.

Hola Shank, 2014 is a very different year than, say, 2011. Back then Nole enjoyed his win over Nadal or even Federer and so he should. Actually I found Nadal's celebration after beating Murray in Rome a bit OTT but I didn't take it personally. Anyway, this time winning Rome beating Nadal again was only a repetition of that so I don't think there was much to celebrate anyway.

I read somewhere Nole has donated all his Rome prize money to the flood victims in his country. I was very moved by it because the footage looked terrible and they do need as much as help as possible. So to give all his hard earned money right away for a cause like that is always a great deed. Hope people noticed that and appreciated a great deal.

hola emmz.......novak is often noticed for wrong things than right things.......that donation which you pointed out, had fed done a similar thing the tennis world would have blown all their sweet trumpets at once.......

novak seems to be respecting rafa a lot more after what happened in 2013.......many people marked 2011 as nadal's end at the top of the sport but how he turned it around against nole is simply historic, it will be talked for several generations.......

I agree. I think Nole saw his breakthrough as the changing of the guard. I think he was shell-shocked to see that Nadal would not go away quietly. He tuned his celebrations down, and is better to watch as a result.

yep, there was no change of guard.......just outright hit-back-hard stuff from rafa......i think rafa is the only player who took care of two red hot all time greats right in their primes.......fed in 2008 and nole in 2013.......

It's still amazes me that he's going so strong ten years later. He's been in so many GS finals at a time when he should have slowed down a long time ago. I've been watching some of his matches from 2013 and 14, and it still leaves my jaw hanging.

Just a remarkable athlete, and so smart on the court.
