General, I'm not sure what their obsession is with thread titles lately at MTF.
Again, this user Time Violation, who has been promoted to Admin there, has changed an interesting, perhaps provocative, sure to grab attention title, to a boring one in the name of being "nice or positive".
Title was: "Is Gasquet the biggest vulture ever?"
Time Violation, obviously eager to try out his new Admin powers, edited the title to: "Is Gasquet actually the best ATP 250 player ever?"
Why change it? Agree or disagree, what harm did it cause? It also changed the meaning of the thread.
I think some of these mods/admins are overdoing it and cutting off the livelier personalities and cutting off their own forum discussion in the process.
Over moderation can kill a forum just like under moderation if not sooner.
I mean, sure, you have to lay down the law when a poster is abusive, or attacking other fellow posters or making death threats or something, but titles?
Respectfully,
masterclass
Great post general.
I have left several forums because of not just excessive moderation but out of control moderation.
I believe it is out of control at MTF.
It is at a point where they are just pursuing their own agendas.
They forget one very simple observation:
They serve at the pleasure of folks who choose to spend their limited and precious time there.
And now people have endless options with a vast array social media innovations.
Most forums are dead or in the process of dying. Only 2 large forums can be considered somewhat active: Tennis Warehose and MTF.
that is only because they are owned and supported by companies/corporations.
Even then these are mere shadows of what they used to be.
