Congrats to Stan Wawrinka and his team and fans and condolences to Novak Djokovic.

Spartan Stan again brought his A+ game when needed most and after losing the first set 4-6, blasted winner after winner and Novak Djokovic off the court in the next 3 sets to take the Roland Garros crown.

Give Wawrinka credit.  He was hitting incredibly well, hard, from a few meters behind the baseline and getting the ball to the Federer baseline.  To me, Stan basically played the Rafa rally game when Rafa was near his best.  But Stan also has the big serve.  He executed better and deservedly won.  I think he has a big chance to win the tournament if he plays like he did against Federer. Roger said he will take a few days off and then go right to work on his grass game, which fits the aggressive style he has been playing anyway.

I guess I called it, but with Stan, one never knows.  But he meant business this tournament, defeating both the #2 and #1 players in the world, again as in the 2014 Australian Open.

Probably Roger knew what could happen better than anyone.  Michael Llodra tweeted earlier: "I asked Roger 'why aren't you at your friend's match?he replied 'I know he'll win,I'm watching FC Basel'
Sure enough, Roger was spotted in the football stadium stands watching the match - both of them. hahaha


Stanimal now has 2 slams in his pocket.  He turned 30 March 28, and has started his 31st year on planet Earth.  Can he add to that?
I don't know about Wimbledon, but he should be one of the favorites in the US Open this year, though it seems that the slower courts suit his power game best.
