I watched 'It's Complicated" last weekend I think...or maybe the week before. Despite the strong cast, it was pretty poor and not at all funny. It's a crying shame, really given the star power. No character development, full of cliche moments etc. I don't want to take junk in at this point of my live - be it junk food or cheap novel or cheap TB shows or movies, news etc. and unfortunately, that was one of them. The unfortunate part was, I kept expecting it to get better but it never did. lol. oh well.

I haven't seen The Great Gatsby yet but it's on my list. I've read the book however but that was a few years back. I don't think the cast will be able justified the characters though. Leonardo can't get out of his typical character. Robert Downey Jr. Would have been a better cast.

agreed. and there is no competing with Robert Redford anyway. he was perfect for the role in that original movie.

I just vaguely remembered that I had seen this version with RR. Golly! Leonardo does have the charm but as I've mentioned before, he has problems getting out of his own character first let alone be someone else. Robert Redford has one too many good movies under his belt. I really think The Way We Were was one of his best.

For some reason this reminded me of Cary Grant and perhaps because of his somewhat similar movie, An Affair to Remember. I also really liked Carry Grant in North by Northwest. One of Hitchcock's best. We can list of the characters we liked in movies. I have tons.

This is just too good. Perfect character Audrey ever played even when she herself was quite the opposite.

"the way we were" was a superb movie.

redford is in a class his own. he worked with paul newman in "butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". that is also one of his better known movie.

I never saw "north by northwest" but I do know that cary grant was an immense talent.

was it cary grant who worked with princess grace of Monaco in that old movie that was shot in paris?

was it called "it takes a thief" or something? I do recall seeing that one a few years ago.

You two have great taste in movies!  :)

To Catch a Thief
North by Northwest
Some Like It Hot
The Way We Were
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

I agree that Robert Redford is in a class of his own. I caught a little bit of The Way We Were on TV the other week. He looked great, he was perfect for the part, and had great chemistry with Streisand. The ending is sad, though. I'm such a sucker for sad endings.   :-[
