Morning folks. How are things? Very beautiful morning here. Watching Nishi/Giraldo. Nishi looking slightly error prone at the moment and Giraldo more together.

Yes, he's finally back on play the week after in Madrid. Will be interesting to find out what kind of form he'll be.

And rumour has it Larry Stefanki might just be his new coach. I guess we'll find out in time.

Barcelona looks beautiful. I have to go there one time. Not to see the tournament but just to browse around.

A couple of breaks in the meantime. Giraldo breaks Nishi, Nishi breaks back, yaddi yaddi yadda and now we are back on serve. Good error prone tennis so far. 2-1 Nishi's serving to stay even.

No way! You have a snack bar in some of the fast trains. I never buy food or drinks on the train so I don't know if they offer anything good. There is no entertainment at all. The German trains don't have any sleeping cars in overnight trains. In French trains they have but they are very basic. I think nothing beats traveling by train in Japan. They have everything, even hostesses which bring your food directly to your seat just like on a plane.

Actually German trains are famous for being overpriced but offering very little service. Last summer or the year before, they had problems with the air con on board of their fast trains. Many passengers fainted due to the high temperatures on the trains and sued the train company afterwards. Same happened in winter with the heating which didn't work properly. They really can't get their **** together.

Hola Nikki, good to know about the German trains. It's useful information for future travelers (ahem like myself ;D). I can tell you that I can't stand too much heat too as I tend to suffocate. And given that I am slightly claustrophobic, I would have definitely fainted on that train on that day.

Germans have a reputation they certainly don't live up to anymore. Especially when it comes to the German railway company. They still hold the monopoly on public railway transportation in Germany so they have been charging a whole lot of money for mediocre passenger service for years. Until a couple of years ago, it was prohibited for bus companies to offer service from one major city in Germany to another in order to protect the railway company from unwanted competition. This law was just approved and kept intact for such a long time because the former CEO of the company had huuuuuuuge political influence. Anyway, since a couple of years there have been more and more bus services popping up, offering really cheap transport across the country for really cheap prices. The buses offer free internet connection and cheap food and drinks. That's something you can only dream about on German trains which charge you more than double to get - for example - from Frankfurt to Berlin (about 350 miles). Due to the traffic conditions you obviously take longer to arrive but the amenities they have on offer really make up for that.

International bus services have been existing for years and whenever I can't get a cheap flight, I travel by bus anyway. So having the possibility to travel by bus in Germany is really good for me.  :) In my dear Balkans the bus is the only way to get around anyway... but their buses are still a whole lot more convenient than the German ones... but nothing beats the Argentinian ones in my opinion. I have no clue about bus services in the US. When I was over there, I frequently saw Greyhound buses and so on but I never got the chance to travel with them. I didn't have to anyway because I always had a car at my disposal and nothing beats having the chance to stop wherever you want to take a break, enjoy the scenery, etc.

Japanese trains are amazing. They are the best way to get around anyway because on the highways they drive so damn slow.

Speaking of train travel, one of my dreams is still a trip on the Trans-Siberian railway from Moscow to Beijing (via Mongolia). I bought the travel guide many years ago but I still haven't had the opportunity to do it. I doubt I have enough money to enjoy it the best way possible.  :P

Totally agree on the first bold part.

As to the second one, that's very interesting. How slow do they drive? What is their average speed limit on highways? Here in Canada, we have 100km on average but of course we all go 20km over but I've seen people going as high as 140 but there's a huge fine for it if you get caught. And Canadians pay high insurance regardless so everyone tries to be as careful as possible so that they don't get involved in accidents or gets fined for speeding.

Nishi is 5-2 up and serving for the 1st set in the meantime. Some good rallies by both but Nishi has taken most of those.

Nishi is serving for the match. Ho hum. What a sensational performance from him throughout this tournament. Who would have thunk it.

And Nishikori is the proud winner of the 2014 Barcelona Open and the first Japanese ever to win a title on clay I think? But Nishi's first clay title for sure.

Nishi you da man, congrats!

Andy's oldest fan. And his inspiration. How do you suppose he broke that 77 year old drought? Did you know, all the kids and old people are Andy's biggest fans and all the nutcases are Fedal fans? hahaha :P

And while rest of the tennis players are trying to win a match, Andy the Murray earns a doctorate degree from the Stirling University. ;D

You must admit, that picture is cute!
