Hi everyone.  Hope you are well.  Looking forward to top class tennis again in Madrid.  Also fascinated by Andy and McEnroe openly flirting with each other about McEnroe being a possibility for coach.  Would be gamble for both but great players can make it work.

que pasa general anikh8030. good to see you around mate.

I am glad andy is trying to get into the swing of things. looking forward to watching him on clay.

Some great pics posted here. Loved them. Yes Emma would be perfect.  Just hope he is willing to travel.  I cant think of a better person also to work on Andys serve. In fact I would go as far as saying I would not mind Andy spending one off season with Pete in LA.

Hi Clay glad to be here again.  Look forward to discussing all the tennis this week mate.

how is it going? any verdict yet as to who will be the next coach for Andy Murray?

who has the inside track? johnny mack is not going to work. he has 6 or 7 kids and he leads a very busy life.

Well, I guess it's about time I should tell you that I've got a twitter account. I just need to send messages to Andy from time to time. ;D

It's been a few weeks and haven't really tweeted anything so far. Will use it when it's absolutely necessary.

Hi Anikh,

So I read this article this morning and found this bit there. Directly from the horses mouth I should mention.

“Ideally I would have someone that was No 1 in the world, someone that’s won ten slams and someone that would dedicate 25, 30 weeks of the year. Ideally, that’s what I would like, but it’s not going to happen.

“There’s also people that maximized their game, people that got the most out of their game. In some people’s eyes, that’s the definition of a champion: someone that actually maximizes their potential. I think that people who have done that will tend to make good coaches because they squeezed every ounce of talent out of their body by working extremely hard, finding different ways to improve, making adjustments, and tactically they will tend to be very good as well. So that’s something that’s very important, too.”

Now that leaves us with Borg, Sampras, Federer and Nadal and given that the last two are still currently on the tour, we can safely rule those possibilities out. So that leaves us with Borg and Sampras only and Borg was not known for being No. 1 for a while and that leaves us with Sampras only. That's a bit hint there. Of course, if Sampras is willing then Andy would hire Sampras in a heart-bit. And Sampras loves Wimbledon and grass so who knows. He does have a family and two small kids and that's really a big problem and he's also involved in the senior tour like Lendl. Also, I am not sure if Sampras wants to be a coach at all.

But you can see what Andy wants in reality and that leaves us with Sampras as his first choice. He must top his list at least and might have approached him as well by now.

Oh btw Anikh, I echo your sentiment. If he can't get Sampras as his coach he can at least spend a season or two with Sampras, say, 3 months straight. Wish Sampras too had lived in Florida but he lives in California. Florida would have been ideal for Andy in that case. But still, that's not an obstacle by any means.

You know how the Fedtards at Tennis Warehouse make a big deal about Federer beating Sampras in 2001 at Wimbledon and sees it as a milestone not only as the next great thing, but also and more importantly, they conveniently conclude that Federer is not only superior to Sampras but also, the greater player on grass.

They quite comfortably overlook the fact that Federer didn't win Wimbledon that year despite beating an almost retired Sampras. Sampras, on the other hand, not only won his first Slam at age 19 same age as Federer and two years after he turned pro, but he also beat Muster, Lendl, McEnroe and Agassi in succession to win it.

And Sampras won 7 Wimbledon in 8 years and got beaten by another grass courter Richard Kraijcek in 1996; whereas, Federer got beaten by a player who specializes on clay not only at Wimbledon but also, at the AO (twice) and of course, at RG. And it took him 10 years to win 7 Wimbledon. And the grass along with the clay have seen the least competition in this era.

It's a shame that they don't see that Nadal is another great player of all time who's beating Federer left and right since the get go. If he gets owned by Nadal so routinely, I can't imagine how much he would get owned by Sampras. Perhaps not on clay but if these two were to face at RG, rest assured, you wouldn't want to underestimate Sampras' ability and his stubborn attitude of establishing his authority over his main competitor. And yes, Federer would be quite intimidated by Sampras' presence and he'd be half beaten even before entering the court. Agassi had much bigger balls to deal with Sampras I should add because he was a bit of prick and hated Sampras at least at that time.

The problem with today's fans is that, they didn't see much of Sampras or at all. They only know Federer very well and that's not enough to compare the two despite all other odds. Unless you have followed Sampras with the same attitude as Federer, your points are moot. You don't qualify for an argument let alone give any kind of opinion. Sod off now.

And even those who claim that they saw him, they still haven't got a clue because their viewings were selective. It was nothing ardent or intense following. If you don't follow a champion like Sampras with that kind of intensity, you have no clue about his mindset.

You can of course throw the results and stats all you want, but they never give you the true picture or tell you the whole story.
