I was listening to a song on youtube and was reading the comments below at the same time and came across this comment:

"There are 64 people who have the mental age of a monkey and that is an insult to monkeys."

The song has a few million hits and 64 people didn't like the song hence the comment. LMHO!

So I woke up to good news and found out Andy has made the final. He'll be playing Ferrer as suspected. Wonder how much grinding is in order for tomorrow. But there are couple of things that may beg otherwise: one, Andy has beaten his last 3 opponents in straight sets; second, it's an indoor event so unlike that notorious Miami final, it will probably be less messy and will provide some quality points or so I hope.

Didn't see Andy's match this morning. Wasn't going to sacrifice my precious Saturday morning sleep over a 250 event but more importantly, I had no doubt Andy was going to put Troicki aside with ease. My wise decision had made me stay in bed until 10am, you see.

But I don't think Andy played all that well judging by the stats. He had 2 aces at the cost of 4 double faults. Andy tends to serve well against big servers but against moderate servers, it's another story as he probably fancies breaking their serves more often - a luxury he can't afford against the big servers. This brings this astute observation of mine - Andy is highly focused and his level of play is higher when he plays against big servers - something I feel Mauresmo (i.e. if she's still around haha) should take note of and change that atrocious  attitude of his. Bottom line, Andy should be highly focused regardless no matter who he faces. Just look at Nole, Nadal and Federer and how they treat their opponents. It doesn't matter who they are up against, they take each and every opponent very seriously from the get-go. They don't lose a set and half before realizing 'oh okay, maybe I should take him seriously now' etc.

Having said that, he did have a decent serving day (60%) today despite 2 Aces and 4 DFs. However, he will have to serve better tomorrow if he wants to avoid a WTA marathon.

Que pasa Emma. Glad you snatched your well deserved rest/sleep which is so vital for good health.

I hear Andy and Berdych are playing in Valencia.

Nice to see Andy get all these matches under his belt.

He is going to have a great year in 2015.

I am quoting my own quote for a change (ahem) but I have something very important to say based on this observation.

Now I have read many comments on youtube and I noticed a very significant difference between the past and the present generations. The past generation, even when they don't like something, are very respectful in their comments; whereas the present generation can't seem to put together one decent sentence without using the word '****' and 'mug' a few times.

I mean I grew up without swearing both at home and at school, and of course at social circles and perhaps these kids behave when they are in social gathering because they have to but golly, on the internet, they completely unleash their negative sides thinking it's 'so cool' to do that. What are they teaching in school or even at home I wonder, because it's very clear to me that a lot of the kids seem to be playing the jekyll and hyde character quite often - more than one would like. It's quite alarming in my opinion.

Thank God I don't have kids. I wouldn't have wanted them to grow up in this very shallow, superficial and nasty environment. We focus so much on terrorism, bombing, poverty, abused women etc. and yet something much bigger and alarming is flying very comfortably under the radar. It's not just the word '****' but the way they convey their entire messages. It's downright creepy and very, very disturbing. You can tell their mental state is not at all where it should be. My biggest worry, who and what will these kids become when they finally grow up.

Good morning, herc. Yes, I see that they have both entered Valencia though I take it Andy's was very last minute. A 500 event so that should help Andy's ranking if he could make it that far. He really need to get inside the top 8 before the year end so that he could have a good start to the new year.

Basel starts on the same week as well and I see both Federer and Nadal are there. That looks interesting especially the Nadal factor there. I'll be more focusing on Valencia however.

Where's Nole in all this though? Having a baby? I have a feeling he'll have a baby girl. I think he'll love that.

Rafa is asking for trouble because he is competing against the advice of his doctors.

This condition is a matter of surgical emergency. That is why they had to put him on antibiotics.

More on this later. I am out on the ocean. it is tough to post with a cell phone.

Not sure how Nadal can agree to antibiotics. Wouldn't a surgery at this point be more beneficial? Wouldn't that give him enough time to recover just in time for AO? Anyway, it's his life, his decision.

I see the time slot for the final is the same as today in Vienna. This means I'll be missing the match again. I typically go to bed very late both on Fridays and Saturdays so early mornings are out of the question for me. Wish they had gone with a couple of hours later slot - 4pm maybe. Oh well.

Just had a look at the Valencia draw - Andy and Ferrer is in the same half and Berdych is on the other half.

All I can think about is being on  a beach soaking in the sun. But instead I'll have to get up from my lazy couch and make a couple of dishes as I have some friends coming over for dinner. It's a bit like potluck. Everyone is supposed to bring something. That should be fun but I feel very lazy. It just got a bit colder here in Toronto as soon as summer left though still very beautiful because of the fall season. All sorts of colours all around.

I figured it might be getting a bit cooler at nights in Toronto around this time of the year.

it is still plenty warm and humid here on the gulf coast but I don't mind. at least the cooler weather is around the corner.

our winters are relatively mild here as you know so the winter wont last for long when it does officially arrive.

have fun with your friends.

don't know why he is doing this since it is so risky to compete with this condition.

for instance, it can lead to sepsis and other complications.

also by waiting until after London, he will be forced to miss the Australian Open.

what the hell is he trying to prove by going to Switzerland? he will win 2 matches at best or may not even win one.

antibiotic treatment had to be heavy so the body is already weakened significantly.

ERSTE BANK OPEN 2014

Murray Wins Vienna Thriller Over Ferrer; Boosts Hopes Of London Qualification

Vienna, Austria

by ATP Staff
  | 13.10.1814

Andy Murray became the fifth active player to lift 30 trophies on Sunday at the Erste Bank Open as he continued his bid to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals for a seventh straight year.

Second seed Murray recovered to beat top seed David Ferrer, who is just one place lower than the Scot (No. 8) in the Emirates ATP Race To London, to capture the Vienna title. Murray is now 110 points ahead of No. 9-placed Ferrer in the battle for a berth at next month’s season finale.

The 27-year-old Murray is the third Briton to clinch the Vienna crown after Greg Rusedski (d. Kiefer) and Tim Henman (d. Haas) won back-to-back in 1999 and 2000. He received €94,500 in prize money and 250 Emirates ATP Rankings points.

Ferrer, who had beaten Murray in last week’s Shanghai Rolex Masters third round, secured the first service break for a 4-2 lead, but Murray immediately bounced back. Two loose forehands cost Murray, when he served at 5-6.

Murray saved all six break points he faced in the second set, which included breaks of the Ferrer serve in the third and seventh games. Murray won five straight games en route to a 2-0 lead in the decider, before Ferrer mounted a comeback.

Ferrer regrouped and took a 4-2 lead, only to be broken to 15 in the seventh game. The Spaniard served for the championship at 5-3, but was broken to 15 when he hit his seventh double fault of the pair’s 14th meeting. Murray held to love for 5-5.

Hi everyone glad with Andy win as always tough to win a title against someone like Ferrer. Had some family health issues which are ongoing but looking to work my way back online.
