Now how about some pictures, eh?

What an weird trophy. From a certain angle it looks like a black snake that's about to bite. Scary stuff. On the other hand, the Basel trophy looks like as if Federer has won another Slam. lol

Andy was so so brave in this match. He even took me by surprise. Loved all those intense moments and the looks in his eyes from time to time. I thought he was trying to comfort Amelie who looked lost at times. lol

After the match...

Andy and Robredo...Andy actually went on to drink a bit of that Champagne. lolol so sweet.

The famous handshake at the net. I don't think Robredo would have done that to Federer or Nole or Rafa but clearly he feels close enough to do that to Andy. I love it.

Oh Robredo! Not the fingers!

Can we please call this a bodyshake and should now be a formal thing to do at the net after a match? Instead of a handshake?

Agree. I love when CD shares about his family. I wish I was able to spend more time with my mother and miss her dearly. She's been gone for so long, but like you, I still feel her presence.

Many people think they are too busy "living life" to bother with their parents, but CD has the right idea. I'm sure his parents are very pleased with the son that they raised.

herc is a great son to have no doubt. Too bad he's not married because his wife would have been just as proud. Ha ha.

Our parents do so much and sacrifice so much to raise us and yet, we get so caught up in the modern and fast society that, we don't even take some precious time out of our busy lives to be with them more often. Then their children go and do the same to their parents. It's a vicious circle.

There are other cultures in the world however where parents are still very much respected and adored. They in fact all live together as a big family. Parents must be very happy to be in that loving environment rather than living alone especially in their old age.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss emma darling. you have remained strong.

may god continue to bless you be strong and to be healthy.

you mom and dad would be so proud of you today.

you are a great person. a person of highest character and integrity.

Aww...such a sweet post, herc darling. My heart completely melted away. I was incredibly close to 3 people - all being in the same family - and they have all left me 'temporarily'. It's very hard to live a life after that but I have greater understanding of life and what's beyond it, so it becomes easier to live a life that's not going to be very long anyway.

I always feel my parents' and brother's presence around me especially when I am alone and I always get the feeling they love me just the way I am, so yes, I am sure they are very proud of me.  ;D

And I am sure you are also just as much caring especially the amount of driving you do just to be with your parents and give them some good time. It's always very lovely and refreshing to see. Keep it going, dear. You are just as wonderful.

thanks for the kind remarks lady TT. I try to spend 1-2 days a week with mom and dad.

Excellent post, Emma.

I was saying the other day somewhere or to someone that if Andy wants to improve that serve he should give Sampras a call. But maybe he is not available.  As far as mentality, I don't know. It really looked like Lendl had improved that during his stay. Andy was noticeably not complaining to his box and seemed to have better control of himself, and was more aggressive on his shots, but it seems he has reverted to his previous style and comfort zone. Maybe it's something that needs constant reinforcement, or maybe it's just him and he can't change his stripes. Who knows? But I agree that it's doubtful that Mauresmo can help with those things, or was even hired for those purposes.

Respectfully,
masterclass

Hola masterclass, I am not sure if any of Murray fans noticed it today but Andy served a few aces or unreturnable serves on crucial points that really helped him to stay on par with Robredo especially in the 2nd set. But quite unfortunately, these fans, while they acknowledge that Andy's got an inconsistent 1st serve and a weak 2nd serve, I have never seen them ever to suggest to hire someone like Sampras. Very rarely, especially the die hard fans and the fans who think 'anyone with a great serve must then be a servebot' a flawed logic therefore, understand this most crucial aspect of the game. They are even afraid to come out and say that Andy is, in fact, the weakest in the mental department of the top four.  They really don't need to look any further than Nole who btw is significantly mentally stronger than Murray.

Quite unfortunately, Andy himself belongs to that group. He grew up idolizing Agassi and he still does I am sure. It's evident in the appointment of Mauresmo. While he did the smartest thing by hiring Lendl, this just feels the opposite, especially when you consider that it's Andy's serves and lack of confidence that's constantly letting him down post Wimbledon and you are left with wondering how Muaresmo, of all people, is going to help Andy in those two crucial points.

In fact, Andy is now literally taking baby steps to go back to where he used to be. I mean look at us. Both Andy and we are now so happy that he won a 500 event beating an almost 33 year old Robredo (though I shouldn't say this since Federer is also 33 and still one of the top players) - a year ago we couldn't have foretold this. But sadly it is the ultimate truth now. It's sad that both Andy and most of his fans don't realize this.

Anyway, Sampras is not available in the sense Andy would have wanted him for sure. That's actually the main reason why both Lendl and Andy parted way as Lendl couldn't commit the number of weeks Andy would have liked him to commit. Mauresmo is willing to give that to Andy. The best Sampras could have done is to be there with Andy in all GSs. And the Miami training would have be then move to where Sampras is right now.  The least he could have done is train Andy for 3 months in his house and teach everything he could possibly teach to Andy. Andy needs a great set of serves and a deadly mentality. His mind needs some serious discipline and Sampras could have helped him with that. Sampras also could have helped him to come to the net more often and be more aggressive. Andy's passive mentality is something that needs some improvement. Andy has a lot of potential and had he fallen into the right hands, he would have achieved much more by now, but a series of bad decisions really kept him away from that.

But if Andy himself doesn't realize that and wants to make his life difficult then there's not much one can do about it. The truth is, Andy's goal is not as big as Sampras' or Federer or Nadal or Nole for that matter and that's why he is where he is. And one can't change this until it comes from the very person.

Was Amelie any helpful in Andy's match today? I hardly think so. I love her but that's the truth. The level of difference between men's tennis and women's tennis is night and day and a woman coach - no matter how big she is or was as a player - will never be able to understand that difference; therefore, will never able to contribute much or anything at all. Perhaps all Andy is looking for at this point is some emotional support and Amelie can certainly provide that.

What a great match. You didn't want either to lose. It went down to the very last point. They both were exhausted. I haven't seen a fight like that in a long time. Robredo is something else. Man, I can't believe he is playing this well at his age. That was so nice the way that Murray acknowledged his great play. Andy is a class act.

Oh I definitely wanted Andy to win and Robredo to lose. From a Murray fan perspective, it was one of the toughest matches to watch (am still recovering from it. Some of us were having heart attacks in small doses) and there was a lot at stake for Andy. I am sure Rafa fans would have wanted the same had he been in Andy's place.

I like all the players from all around the world with the exception of a few but they are not based on nationality but rather personal preference and the personalities they represent for themselves. For example, I am not keen on Ferrer (there are just one too many things I don't like about his ego/personality). Also, Isner has fallen from my eyes when he made that notorious comment after a match to his Israeli opponent, 'we are with you, mate' or something like that. I also find Federer a touch arrogant for my taste (very egoistic). I prefer people who are down to earth even when they are supremely successful and there are loads of them out there. Who else? I can't remember right now but the list is very short so maybe that's about it. Oh I used to dislike Agassi a great deal but I've warmed up to him since 1999.

Emma do you remember this occasion?

Andy gave the world something that is going to last 100,000 centuries. Andy carved out his own immortality with this win.

Hola herc and rest of the gang. Andy's opening his first match tomorrow in Paris against Benneteau. Will be interesting to see where he is physically. He says he feels fine but of course a competitive match is another matter. Andy will need to make the QF at least to guarantee a spot at WTF. But the other possibilities are even harder for the rest of the guy as Raonic will need to win Paris, Ferrer will need to make the final and Nishikori will need to make the SF in Paris and Berdych down with same as Nishi, so lots of scenarios to be played out at this point for the remaining spots. I say Andy is 90% guaranteed to play WTF. Given how notorious Paris is and can be, us Murray fans can't take anything for granted. Not sure what Andy has in his mind, really but my guess is he'll continue to play as he sees fit - if you know what I mean.

Some really good matches tomorrow. Ferrer vs Goffin comes to mind immediately. What else? Oh Thiem vs Wawrinka no doubt. Monfis/Isner, Lopez/Querrey, Robredo/Nishikori etc.

Daddy won his match quite convincingly today. Good to see.
