Love the pictures of the Mississippi beach, herc darling. Very nice. I'd love to bike there myself and walk and run etc. Such a long beach.  You did scare the birds away!

I can only recognize MM in your last pictures. Is there anyone hidden there that I don't know of? A couple of them I can't recognize to be honest.

Had a look at the draw. Group B certainly looks more balanced and tougher than Group A. Though when it comes to WTF there's really no easy draws. And Nole is a level above than most players so no matter what kind of draw you give him, he makes it look easy and that's without a deadly serve. And that speaks volume about rest of his game.

But still, Rafa could have balanced the draw out a bit more. Just his name makes it sound heavy even when he doesn't do well around this time anyway, but he did make the final twice so he's certainly not that bad. I hear the OP went all so that's good news.

Do you miss Rafa here at WTF, herc?

I don't miss Rafa at wtf emma darling. he has nearly killed himself trying to dominate the clay circuit for a whole decade.

it takes too much out of him during the season and you can see the results now: injures and ailments.

and now the back issue is resurfacing again. he has to get off the hard courts and say goodbye to his career at this point.

Thank you, herc darling. Now what do you think about my new signature? Is it cool enough for you? My own creation. I am working on a few others as well.

I probably should talk about Andy and WTF a bit. Yes, Andy has successfully dug a big hole for himself by losing to Nishi in his first match. That was a sure and must win for Andy, but he just couldn't help himself but create a much bigger mess. It now initially depends how the first match pans out on Thursday. But he really should be taking the full responsibility for it.

The H2H vs Nishikori is not going to help Raonic much but is Raonic really prepared to go out 0-3 despite the H2H? Come on.

That said, very one sided matches so far.

Andy is very stupid and that goes without saying. I said it before the tournament that I'd rather Andy didn't qualify. This I saw coming back then. At this point, I am not sure what was more stupid - the fact that he qualified to play this tournament or the fact that, he let Nishi beat him in his RR match which could have had a different outcome today had he won that match. Because Federer went into this match knowing FULLY well that he has qualified. In other words, he had no pressure - win or loss - so he played supremely freely. On the other hand, Andy had to win in STRAIGHT sets in order to qualify. This is not Wimbledon. It's WTF final where most English Federer fans turn up even against Andy and that has always put Andy in a very delicate position in the past. And this tweet of his re: Scotland referendum has put him, this year in particular, in even more delicate position. And Federer knows this too (see his subtle tweet to Andy before the tournament). You could sense that he was just waiting for this match.

If WTF was held somewhere else, Andy would have had much easier time against Federer and I am sure he would have beaten Nishikori in his first RR as well. Andy did much better against Federer at the AO this year if you remember, where he was just coming off his surgery. That was, in fact, his 2nd tournament since the surgery.

Also, in this tournament in particular, Andy needed to be mentally very strong for all the reasons stated above. This is where he needed the mental coaching the most. And he fell short in every category. You can clearly see Amelie has no clue about Andy's mental state nor does she have the power to make Andy mentally stronger. Amelie might be a very good coach for the women but as far as men's tennis is concerned, it's a very different animal altogether. Otherwise, can anyone here see Andy losing like this against Federer whom he beat 11 times in the past and was at 50% in their H2H just prior to this match?

Thank God I didn't watch this match. I taped it but deleted it as soon as I got home. Whatever confidence Andy has built up so far, he has flushed it down the toilet today. The only positive side is that - thank God 2014 is over and he's won 200 points out of this tournament. He now has time to think about things so that he can be properly prepared for 2015. He desperately needs a better coach and also, he needs to take a deep look at all the mistakes he's made throughout the year including that tweet of his and hiring Amelie.

Since he wins majority of the the clay tournaments, it does take a lot out of him. And he's been doing it for years now so that's very telling. In fact, Nadal hasn't played a full season since 2011. Doha has saved his resume this year though since it's the only hard court title he has won this year outside clay.

Federer does his scheduling really well. He never burns himself out but when he does he typically loses. Remember how he couldn't sustain against a fired up Cilic at the USO. That's due to the fact that he had a very logn match again Monfils. So the reason why Federer is still playing well and winning titles is precisely that. He knows how to schedule well. It's only Nole who schedules very well other than Federer and that's why he's been on top of this game for a while now.

I am still out on the road Emma. I won't be getting home until late.

I took some pics of the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge.

I will post them when I get home.

Andy served poorly and was too passive off the ground.

we will talk about this later. I am not happy with him.
