I really don't mind Federer. I think he's truly a great player. I enjoy his matches - win or loss. And I don't think at all he is responsible for this cult like fanbase. It's the ordinary minded people who have the tendency to become all obsessed with celebrities/players for no good reason. I see it as an escapism. People don't like their own reality so they subscribe to those that aren't their own reality. It's a very nice escape for them.

Baron, for example, is really a level headed person but he too I feel is a bit too protective about Federer. I have a really good friend who's a big Federer friend but his obsession over Federer I find really unhealthy. There are also some serious Fedal fanatics out there.

he was definitely the king of the jungle in his day. 6 years at #1 is huge.

look at the intense concentration on this volley:

He's not even looking at the ball, did you notice? He's already very well aware of the position of the ball and now he is looking at the placing of the ball.

I am freezing to death here. I need a six inches thick comforter.

I like the gulf coast, herc. You have a great place to live where you are so close to the beach. Once I get older and retire, I'd like to live by a beach too. Just the thought of it makes me want to look forward to it though not at the expense of getting older. yuck!

by the way damn near every forum that I know is just about dead. it doesn't matter if they have ever 2300 members or over 4000.

that is the nature of the beast. season is over and people have holiday travel and Christmas on their minds.

and then on top of that, we are brand spanking new.

and don't forget that all our federereeeesian friends ran away once nadal got a little closer to Federer's records.

Federer is like a religion to some of these cats.

now some of them make a living on twitter and facebook blasting and tearing into nadal 24 hours a day. such is the level of hate for nadal.

wishing him death and injury is becoming more and more common now.

so who needs such cowards anyway.

I rather have a cool tennis family of 50 people than to have 1000 cowards who cant hardly live because nadal is closing in on Federer's slam record.

what the hell are they going to do if nadal wins 2 more slams in 2014?

at any rate we are well on track on having about 200 people here. it will take at least a year. I thought it might take a little longer but now I am more positive.

I think we are moving in the right direction. we are making more progress than meets the eye.

we are building for the future and the future is quite bright for Camelot.

In order for Nadal to either equal Federer or even surpass him, Nadal will need to win at least 4/5 Slams. It seems doable now but it still is a very tough job. Both Nole and Murray (or even Del Potro) can essentially get in the way. His only safe bet is RG though Nole has really closed in - DP might just be the potential danger there as well.

i have known some major fed fanatics in my time. even the most objective ones can be major closet fed fanatics.

just look at masterclass. not a word about congratulating nadal, his team, his family, and his fans when he captured the Australian open.

instead his first and initial response: he ran to tennis frontier and said something to the following effect:

nadal will never win a slam off clay again. the next knee injury is almost here. and then he added something about poker or something. he said he will be back to playing golf and poker in no time flat after he destroy his knees.
this is minutes after nadal won the Australian open.

that was a bitter thing to say. now you know that time does not stand still. people are going to come and they are going to go. records will continue to be broken.

now i know masterclass is a smart and an objective fellow but fed is a religion to many of these people. it is what it is.

it really does not matter to me. i am enjoying it all.

I told you before, the very nature of sports is competitive and when things are this competitive, it is bound to get ugly - especially between fans. But that doesn't mean people are bad in general but just this side of sport that brings out the worst in them. I believe most sports fans are conditioned with it. Some are heavily so and some are probably less so. You shouldn't remember these things. They are mostly said in the spur of the moment - no one's above it - not even you. You have this big issue letting things go, dearest herc. Let it go. Why care so much?

I really like him as a golf player for some reason. He'll probably take it up after tennis.

this game must be addictive. many of the tennis pros are playing it. even the old, retired ones.

Federer is the only one who does not play. I am not sure about andy either? has he been seen at any of the celebrity golf tournaments.

no worries. I was just making a passing comments. some people take the nature of sports almost too seriously. nadal or anybody winning does not put one lousy dime in my pocket.

those were just passing remarks. he had said countless times that he was just objective and that he did not really have any favorites.

I am not worried about. and from the looks of it I don't think I can count on him for anything at all so I don't really care anyway.

we saw the true colors over time. we knew we would find out who were our friends would be when we starting building Camelot from scratch.

nobody came to even wish us luck.  that alone should have told us all we needed to know.

in looking back now, I am inclined to believe that they have done us a favor. they strengthened our resolve to make Camelot into something special.

anyway now we move forward.
