Why aren't you happy? Andy had a real surgery and didn't play any competitive tennis for about 3/4 months. It needs its recovery time, no? Del Potro took a year to recover fully from the wrist surgery and another year just to get things back on track upon return. It's a process after all.

Anyway, I would have liked him to win a couple of more matches here now that Verdasco is out too, but oh well.

On another news, Ferrer is out in straight sets to Daniel Brands. Brands is capable of playing sublime tennis at times, yes.

I am out on the road Emma.

i will reply to your posts when I get home.

now Sid is mad at me. he said he was admin here before and that now he is just a senior member.

I thought he left. also we looked like fools with 20 admin here and hardly anybody posting.

as for the senior member, I think that is just forum software.

we also did not have 55 members here until a few days ago.

Herc, you have sort of created this problem for yourself when you felt generous and gave a lot of people the Admin access at the start of this forum, so we must recognize that first. And anyone is bound get a bit upset if they are down graded from being something to being nothing. I will be too at first but I will get over it quickly but not all are the same.

I agree that we don't need 20 admins. And the position admin does come with some responsibilities. Personally I think masterclass, Sarah, CETS, TT they all make a good admin. So my suggestion is, instead of giving Siddy one more Admin access, I'd rather you give him my access to him and make me one of the mods.   I can be just a poster as well, I don't at all mind it as long as I have the ability to create a thread. This way we eliminate the danger of having too many admins. Think about it. I will be always there if you need to talk or need help with anything, you know that.

damn good to see you general backspin.

Emma's cafe is the global chat place/hangout.

and this is Camelot to begin with. the whole place is set up like a chat place.

post anywhere you please. create a million threads if you wish. and you can even have your own board here.

a very happy new year to you and your loved ones.

you are spot on as usual lady emma. excellent post.

ask not what Camelot can do for you. ask what you can do for Camelot.

that was john Kennedy's speech many moons ago. he said something to that effect:

"ask not what your country can do for you. ask what you can do for your country.

emma nobody got downgraded. I basically made a mistake. there was nobody here and there were 20 admin people.

hardly anybody posting and 20 admin. it just did not make any sense.

I thought we would like clowns unless we simplified the situation.

so now we have pretty much just the right arrangement.

we also had barely 20 members back then. now we have 55.

people like javi and sid were simply not around. I had not seen them in ages I thought they left.

and slasher and freaky were stroking each other around the clock at MTF. why would these people want an admin position in a place they don't believe in and are never there to support it in any way?

so that was another reason to reduce admin.

finally if we believe in Camelot and help it grow and stuff then our greatest reward will be a very cool place that we all helped build. and we will have built it from absolute scratch. there is a lot of pride in that.

bottom line: I made a mistake. I was way too generous in my thinking and I wanted to share it all with the others but there was hardly anybody here.

my problem is that I have been always too kind and too generous. in fact it because of sid and nekro that I left tennis frontier castle. they said their posts were being deleted at the castle.

of course I made some mistakes: I should have consulted baron and ironed out everything.

but the bottom line is that I was defending sid and nekro. I also went after babbs, alex, and monster for attacking and insulting sid.

it was like pulling teeth to get scott to give freaky a mod position after mtf threw him out on the street. I wanted to do something nice for him. so he throws a knife in my back the first chance he gets.

I give him a 2nd chance here at Camelot and make him admin and he spits on that opportunity.

I have done too much for people and it doesn't seem to get me anywhere. I got javi mod positions at tennis4you and then at tennis frontier. and I did this at the time mtf was shitting on him. mtf took away his mod position. these days he posts at mtf.

anyway then I made him admin here. today he laughs at us. he has been by here a few times and does not even care enough to say hello to anyone.

so all this kindness and generosity has netted us exactly nothing. they take you for a fool instead.

we are just not going to worry about anything anymore. we will make it here one way or another because our very unique proposition at Camelot.

all we need is time and we have that at the moment. we can build and create in the mean time.

just look what general CETSVids is doing for example. he is building for now and for the future. he is building and creating engaging content.

why? because he cares enough for Camelot and for us.

we are at home at last. and we call Camelot home.

and if you want to call Camelot home too then you are more than welcome to do so. the gates are open and the doors are open. furthermore, they will always be left open.

all you have to do is walk in and pull up a chair.

I am worried about Andy.

he was up 6-3, 3-0.

he won just 3 of the last 15 games. i wonder if he was experiencing some back pain.

I can't help but chime in a little bit here.

Emma is right, CD, you give too freely and everybody isn't capable of receiving that due to their own shortcomings.

Personally, I don't think people can be too nice (I like nice people), and those who feel that way are lacking an internal moral compass.

Regarding the admin status I'm fine with just being a poster. When I decided to enter Camelot (ha ha, that sounds so poetic) I did with the notion and responsibility of being a full member and helping to contribute whatever I could to the overall well-being of the forum...

But, I was not in on the ground floor and did not take the necessary risks to be afforded any status, so being acknowledged isn't really important to me. I want the success of you all's venture first and foremost.

We have spoken of this before, people need and like to feel that they have earned things, not have them given to them (a lesson I could use a little help with myself), as I am naturally generous too.

At any rate, don't worry about any of this stuff, but moving forward you should try to determine a value system that comes with time and possibly contributions.

Still, you can't fault yourself because you never know what members will do. Look at CetsVid's, whatever status you gave him was more than earned considering his contribution to Camelot.

Anyway, all will be well. This place is a goldmine and in time everyone will know it.

that is a great post lady TT.

I think we have just the right number of admin and global mods here for now. we appear to be making progress at the moment so we will just leave all that alone.

my big concern was that if we are to keep moving forward then we cant really afford to look too goofy with 20 admin members and nearly just as many members at the time. it diminishes our credibility. so that was really the biggest reason at the time to eliminate some of the admin posts.

look at tennis4you. there is just one admin and that is the owner. he has a few mods and 2 global mods.

one of those global mods is never there. he was given an admin post here and he was never here either.

and when we removed his admin post, he came here and cried about it and then he deleted his own account and ran.

sid is an old friend and I will never walk away from him. Camelot needs people like sid.

we will treat him as family.

as for giving, I have given too much to too many as already.

I hardly ever have less than $6000 cash in my pocket. hell all I do is give. even money.

there are zero requirements here at Camelot. people can do whatever they please and when ever they please. there will be zero demands and zero conditions for people.

they can post anywhere and they can create a million threads if they wish. we are cool like that.

I think our greatest reward will come when we have a really cool Camelot family here that works for everybody. for members and for our guests.

I envision a Camelot family of about 300 by the end of 2015. at that point I can probably get us some advertising here and we can start earning some money.

our greatest reward is not an admin post. our greatest reward will be a cool place that we all can call home.

large numbers is not where its at: I know of several forums that have 3000-4000 members that have little or no activity.

small family/society of about 300 is where its at.

I totally understand, being overly generous can be both a blessing and a curse, but there's a biblical scripture that I rely on in these situations. I can't remember where it's located, I'll look it up later and modify this post, but it says,

"Don't cast your pearls before swine, for they will turn around and rend you."

I think that's very accurate. Everyone doesn't deserve our best efforts, because some people will misinterpret our good intentions. Instead of seeing it as an act of kindness from someone who enjoys giving, they actually think that they factor into your decision to give.

It seems to me that you are accustomed to winning and getting your way, through your efforts of course, and instead of hoarding your blessings you like to pass the blessings on, but sometimes you forget that most people are not like that. Many have a warped idea regarding kindness and morality, just tune into Judge Judy and watch the number of people who will ask for a loan from a plaintiff and then vehemently assert that it was a "gift." It's more common than you can even imagine.

Anyway, there will always be those who don't understand the blessing, but in the extending you got CETSvids, who is an integral part of Camelot's current and future success, so you did the right thing. CETSvids was one who was able to receive the gift and has multiplied his contributions to this forum a hundredfold.

In essence, never regret the kindness that you extend in the short run, for it is in the long run that you will benefit, simply by the caliber of people who come, stay, and contribute to the overall good of the venture.

On another note, I went to "the other place" and had a really good time. I was careful to sidestep GOAT and prediction thread, but I got a ton of laughs reading the inane posts of the usual suspects. Having not been there for a while I realized that there are a lot of great posters over there who have been obscured by the incessant foolishness, but in time, I am hoping that many of them will find their way here.

(Although, I am enjoying the intimate setting here, because I don't think it will stay that way for the future).

I had a lightening quick look too the other day at tennis warehouse.

folks like crissti, Michael nadal, ,rafaisback and some others there are great posters.

that dude Mustard is a walking computer and a great poster too.

I am afraid we will never have 30,000 members because that is what it is addictive for so many. people want that audience and that fairly instant response/reaction to their posts.

that is really the biggest reason by "borg number one" never really decided to post here. he/she joined and even said that he/she was going to post a little bit at the borg center.

well it is what it is. I prefer a smaller and a more peaceful setting.

and I am relishing the new challenge of trying to rise from the ashes. it is an opportunity that is fun for the few of us that are here.

it is so easy to go to a ready made, ready built place like MTF for example. here we get a chance to come with an idea or two and we get to create and build something.

lot of companies have started from a garage with nearly nothing. Michael dell started from his dorm room.

apple started in a garage. Harley Davidson company started in a garage. and so on. Aristotle Onasis started his shipping empire with $500.

I like to think that we started from a sidewalk and all we ever wanted was just a cool place to call home.

for the few of us here, Camelot is home and we are happy with it.

where there is hope and belief, there is nearly everything.

berdych went out in the first round. ferru was also ousted as you have pointed out.

there was an opportunity here for andy. I guess this recovery is going to take a little longer.

I thought he was making great progress in Miami with his training.

lets hope for the best for andy.
