Frustrating and frustrating...says the NY Times. On to 2nd set TB. Oh well.

Come on, Andy!

Sam takes the 2nd set. A few callous points by Andy throughout the 2nd set while Sam seemed more together. 1 set all.

herc, re: prime Federer vs prime Sampras on grass - I think I can go with 5-2 as you suggested last night. I know Andy wasn't in superb form at the AO but the way Federer was serving in that match, even Andy, a great returner was having problems breaking Federer's serve. I do think a great serve trumps a great return. And Federer has half the return game as Agassi so I don't see how he'll be able to break Sampras' serve when Agassi wasn't able to do it. And it's going to put a lot more pressure on Federer's own serve. Add the mental strength on clutch moments and Sampras comes on top again. Even if Federer gets a break point, there's no telling if he'll be able to convert it since Sampras was very good at saving breakpoints with either Ace or nonreturnable serve. I see Sampras trumping Federer on grass, hard, and carpet. I give clear edge Federer on clay. But on an one on one basis where things matter on that single match, you never want to count a prime Sampras out, as he has beaten the likes of Muster, Courier, Brugerea on clay at RG. Personally I do think Sampras would come on top over the likes of Federer, Nadal, Nole etc. on  most surfaces.

Well, I had a very lovely afternoon watching Andy. I thought he played quite well after losing the 2nd set and kudos to Sam for taking it to Andy. The crowd was quite alright although I didn't like the stadium as much. Looked somewhat cheap given the venue. All in all, Andy looked quite comfortable on clay and it was nice to see his forehand working for the most part. It now looks very natural on him and it seems he's loving it too.

excellent points emma.

also like I have suggested even if nobody breaks then the match is decided in the breakers.

and in the breakers one has to give the edge to Sampras. his serve was not just big. it was the best serve in history.

and a slight edge to Sampras in the testicular fortitude department so that has to be taken into account in close contests.

I can't believe the weekend is over even though I stayed home most of the time and chilled. Time still flies. I used to be big fan of 'Charmed' and of all the powers, I really liked Piper's freeze time ability. That's the one I wanted the most and I still crave for it. I wish there was 48 hours in a day.

Last night I went to bed around midnight and I am sure I fell asleep right away but then I woke up around 1:30am. I didn't have a bad dream or a nightmare or anything. I simply woke up but I was still slightly sleepy. However it didn't seem I was going to fall asleep any time soon, so I got bored and decided to listen to one of my favourite spiritual teachers' lecture. I was really enjoying listening to him as he was talking about how he became spiritual some 30 years ago. All was going fine until then...until he mentioned and I quote, 'I went back to work one day being very depressed and that's when it hit me, what I am doing here?' And then he said to the audience 'you know when you have that realization, you can pretty much kiss your career goodbye' and then he went to laugh a lot about it. But I got alarmed. And  now I am really awake.  Because just a year ago I had this thought at work and I wasn't able to get rid of it and it haunts me from time to time. Now I am really anxious completely wide awake thinking, 'what does that mean? I can't quit my job? It's not like I am sitting on a pile of money?'. I just drove myself nuts at 2:30am in the morning with all these questions. What a way to ruin a perfect goodnight sleep. lolol. I didn't feel so bad in the morning however but I know it's not going to stop it here. Oh well. Just this constant feeling as if I am meant to do something else. It scares me though since it means some vast change in life and I haven't got a clue.

congrats to Andy and his fans at Camelot.

I am glad to see him doing well again.

emma that player center is not doing all that well. we just don't have enough people here.

I think I am going to move the andy board right next to you at Emma's café.

lady TT has the rafa board right next to her.

and I don't know what to do with the other player boards yet but we can place them somewhere else and eliminate the individual pro player center.

we can always revive those boards when somebody comes along wants an individual board for their player.

interesting post there emma.

perhaps somewhere in the back of your mind you also had the andy match to think about.

I know I did not sleep well at all the night of the rafa vs stan match.

I was not going to watch it and just hit the sack. we do have a world class tennis video center here so i was going to watch it next day.

well I got up to go the bathroom and afterwards I decided to check the score. next thing you know I started watching it. the match was on my mind as there was so much tennis history at stake. I just tossed and turned that night.

It doesn't mean though herc that Sampras won majority of the TBs (actually I don't have that stat available but I can always dig it up) but that he won the important ones. He lost a few TBs in important matches as well but he didn't lose the match.

No, no I didn't think about Andy's match at all. In fact, I was very relaxed about it. I was very sure Andy was going to seal the deal today. I get very cautious when I feel nervous about one of Andy's matches. It typically means one of two things, either Andy has a very tough road ahead or he's going to lose. Most times I know when he's going to lose - like the one against Federer at the AO. I was very convinced he was going to lose so I didn't even bother to watch it as I knew it was just going to upset me. So that wasn't it.

But I totally get your last paragraph. It had happened to me at least a couple of times during AO. For example, I did not at all plan on to watch Dimitrov vs Nadal especially when Andy was right after, but once I checked the score and realized it's turning out to be a good match, I started watching. Next thing you know, I pull an all nighter for no reason.

Last night was just different. It just feels something personal.

Although I was very happy for Stan I did feel very bad for you, herc. I know how much you wanted to Nadal to get this. ((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))

You know that he still has more than enough opportunities available to him so don't worry too much about it.

strange things happen in sports.

the whole world picked Denver in the superbowl but they are going to get their asses kicked by seattle.

nadal had never even lost a set to stan and had beaten him 12 times in a row.

this was supposed to be a done deal for nadal. I hit the sack knowing that rafa was going to take it in 4 sets.

the whole world also picked nole to take the aussie crown again and then he goes out in the quarters.

at the same time I was nervous about it for some damn reason.

emma we have eliminated one center and now we will get rid of another one.

we will eliminate 2 centers but keep the boards in case they need to be revived again.

I am going to place sara's board and laurice's board under the "little notes by Carmen" center.

you had the right idea. there is just not enough activity here yet so might as well streamline it a tiny bit.

nobody is losing their boards at all. all of them are intact and they will forever be intact.

a promise is a promise at Camelot.

we are just reducing the centers by 2 to make it a little easier and quicker to scan the whole place.

one should be able to scan all of Camelot in mere seconds to see where they might feel like posting.
