Thanks so much for this.
I have been stressing about my upcoming college algebra course and one of the articles said that math is not inborn as we have been led to believe. I know that practice makes perfect, but I honestly felt inferior when it comes to math, not because I can't do it, but because I feel that I don't retain it, and often don't know which formulas to apply.
I can carry an A all quarter, but I get so freaked out on the final exam that all the neurons in my brain start skipping the tracks and running willy nilly in my head.
That article gave me a bit of comfort. I must remember to incorporate its message in my life.
there is a site founded by somebody named Khan who offers all the courses on the internet for free.
this dude is a son of one of my mom's friends. he was born to be brilliant.
he set out to educate the whole world.
I will see if I can find out more and I will post the information here.
his free courses may be all you need and you can easily shine in any course and any subject.
Wow!
That would be so cool. I get absolutely freaked out when it comes to math.
I have been looking for introductory college algebra on the web for months, but haven't found anything that makes it as clear as I need it to be.
I hope you can find the information. It would be greatly appreciated.
here it is.
http://www.khanacademy.org/go to Emma's café. I posted it there also.
it turns out that I actually know him. he used to live in new Orleans.
my mom met his mom in new Orleans and they have been friends ever since.
anyway he would go on to be totally brilliant. today he educates the whole world for free.
and get this: there is no subject or course that he does not cover.
his methods are innovative and it is all free.
his father was a doctor who died too early. so what he has achieved is really impressive.
he did it without his father.

Oh my. Thank you so much.
I have heard of this Khan academy when I was working at an elementary school, but I thought it was geared specifically for children. I had saved the information because I wanted to be an elementary school teacher.
I am so excited.
YOU ARE THE BEST!
Of course I already knew it. I spotted it immediately when you came to "that other place."
Hugs!
he teaches anybody who wants to learn. he covers most of the subjects.
I might look into something too. I am a student of ancient civilizations.
