Breaking news!
Reports say that both #3 Stanislas Wawrinka and #8 Roger Federer are making their way to Novi Sad in Serbia for the 1st round tie!
It is rumored that Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic will not play, but that is not confirmed.

There is also an unconfirmed rumor that Federer promised Wawrinka he would play in the 1st round if Stan won the Australian Open..

Is that humble pie you're eating Roger? Hahaha
Who will take the forehand and backhand sides?

interesting developments general masterclass.
keep them coming.
do you think Spain can defeat Germany without ferru and rafa?
I am going to Petco Park tomorrow for Day 1 of the Davis Cup matches between USA and Great Britain. The clay court they built specifically for this event inside the baseball stadium looks fantastic!
Today, it was announced that John Isner is not going to play due to an injured foot. So, the first match tomorrow is between Andy Murray and Donald Young.
The funny thing is that I was the match in 2011 in Indian Wells when Young defeated Murray. I even took some photos
young is going to have a hard time defeating andy this time.
andy is slowly stepping up his fitness. I think andy takes this straights or 4 sets at best.
Yeah, I will be pleasantly surprised if Donald Young wins a set tomorrow.
young has a great foreahand.
I am sure andy will try to target young's weaker wing and then open up the court.
still its clay and young is a midget. he does not have enough firepower to hurt andy.
interesting developments general masterclass.
keep them coming.
do you think Spain can defeat Germany without ferru and rafa?
Perhaps General. The German team is carrying some injuries from what I recall (Haas - shoulder forced to retire at AO 1st round, Kohlschreiber - left hamstring - retired prior to 1st round at the AO). I don't know if they are healthy enough to put out 100%. Florian Mayer is I think in good shape and form as he made it to the 4th round at the AO - defeated by Ferrer.
If they are ok, I think it will be tough for Spain on the German indoor hard courts. But both Lopez and Verdasco are pretty good on hard courts, so we can't dismiss them. Tommy Haas is scheduled to play doubles with Brands vs. Verdasco/Marrero. That might end up being the key match.
Bautista-Agut plays Kohlschreiber in the 1st tie for the first time in their lives. Bautista-Agut made it to the 4th round, taking down Del Potro along the way. So he is in good form. I think Kohlschreiber can beat him if healthy though, if he uses his good one handed backhand to avoid Bautista-Agut's strong forehand.
Florian Mayer plays Feli Lopez. Should be an interesting battle. Maybe it goes 5 sets. Pick 'em.

lopez vs mayer is a tough call.
they both should have their chances.

Hello everyone!
Berlocq's performance was impressive! Winning that match will get us near the QF again.
And, even without so many chances this Davis Cup, getting to QF means another year in the World Group, so... Vamos Pico!!

Switzerland with Federer and Wawrinka could be very dangerous this Davis Cup and a rival to fear, specially considering Serbia is losing and that'd mean no Djokovic this year.
This could be an interesting Davis Cup
Yeah, I will be pleasantly surprised if Donald Young wins a set tomorrow.
So are you there today? Let us know when you are back and take pictures please too!
I am following the match online. Andy has just broken Young in the 2nd game. 2-0 Andy 1st set.

Yep, I spent the whole day today at the Davis Cup matches. Andy against Young was a snoozefest, Andy outplayed him thoroughly. The second match was a thriller but it was so sad watching Sam Querrey's game collapse like that at the end, broken 5 times in a row at 4:3 in the fourth after not being broken even once until then!
My seat was way up in the stands so the pictures I took are not very good. There is only this one of the venue, a beautiful claycourt built at the baseball stadium in my city.
