Frequencies of thought
transition across neural pathways
oscillations of movement
flash in rapid succession from the realms of sleep
existing images fade
as synapses collapse...
descending through fragmented scenes
Sleep watches from the edge of reality
as the patter of falling rain
echoes off of cobblestone streets
the bell's sonorous timber remains, suffocating the silence
awaiting the awakening hours
...alas we sleep...
Sleep watches...quiet
deep in thought
transitioning memories once forgotten
desires found in our dreams
fall only to be devoured
as the patter of falling rain
echoes of of cobblestone streets
memories torn from daylight dreams
leave us wondering
why the scavengers tend to feed upon us so
pain etched into Sleep's fragile features
betrays the truth hidden deep within
dawn's misty light
falls upon the dying embers, of all that once remained
no words can describe, what was once kept here
Sleep falls to the wayside
fading from the coming day
alas my words fail me; to look back upon it all...
to lay here quietly and wait for sleep.
