That's great. I normally find inspiration in events or think of certain things. I normally just get ideas which I have to get down, mostly in rhyme, if not as a story or song.

Totally understand - I carry a notebook around with to jot ideas down - good fun too and a nice change from the day job 😂

Definitely, the good thing is I've got a nice, flexible voice so everybody else likes me to sing too. I also like looking at photos of Scotland & equine pictures.

Definitely. I love all of Scotland though. I have some Scottish highlanders as ancestors but also some ancestors who came from the borders & just South of Glasgow.

Ahhh.  My mother is a Cameron - born and bred near Fort William 😊 But I'm at home and at peace in the Borders - love the wildness and beauty to be found in both regions.  I wrote a series of verses a few months ago based upon a Border raid - inspired by The Candlemas Road.

I've got Cunningham, Douglas, Brown & Lamont ancestors as well as a lot of others descended from the Irish O'Neill clan. So most of my ancestors came from Dunoon.

I've been to Fort William many times. It's a nice, little shopping town while still being very scenic as it's still in the highlands with all the Lochs & mountains.

The Lordship of the Isles

Seawulf and Somerled by Steve MacDonald

In the long-boats Seawulf came,
Crying out the War god's name,
Highlander, raise your warning fire,
Seawulf's on his way,
To feed the battle-crow's desire today.

Isle of Man and Isle Tiree,
Faced Odin's giants of Valkyre,
Gaining control of Argyle,
The western highlands too,
Somerled has delivered us from you;

Seawulf will rise

Oh, oh, oh, oh, ooh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, ooh

Viking child, oh Viking child, oh Viking child,
Who will tame the wolf behind your smile...
Viking child

Viking child, so free and so wild,
Tell me why do you roam,
Battle on, the Seawulf in search of home.

Hi, lady Winters Tale.
Really beautiful verses and video!
"Crying out the War god's name,..." really beautiful written. ::) Just imagined whole picture of that.

Have a nice weekend! ;)
