Broken twigs from ice covered limbs
Trees made missed takes that spring
Was hours away
Onslaught of torrential rains
Plummeting sub zero temperatures
Followed by hail
Mixed with sleet and snow
Weekend spent as power outages
Made their way
Affected by the crazed weather
In candlelight and open flame
Of gas stoves

Slipping and sliding across
Sheets of ice thick on the roads
And sidewalks
Salt unable to crack through the ice
Crusted snow
Ice picking to create cracks
A sure fire workout
Lifting and crashing ice to smithereens
No small feat

April is nestled in the Spring season
Yet winter borrowed a weekend
To show us mere mortals
That we have nothing under control
Nothing at all

Frivolity chastised by judgements eyes
Butterflies suckling nectars sweetness
From flowers surprise
Activating the stirrings of the heart
Tingling aches throbbing some more
Elation bemused hidden inside
Single part another you tore
Gathering all the remnants
Observations confusions
Ill equipped to decide
Time will tell

Breaking free from the cages cocoon
Developmental stages
Evolutions growth is coming
Soon

That special sweet spot of slumber
Vibrancy in the kaleidoscope of colours
Richly blended in every hue
Flowers transform with a single touch
From light pillowy softness
To beauteous butterflies
Monarchs, white and different shades of blue
Drifting deeper with the melodic sound
Of the waterfalls cascading
Something soothing and comforting

The dreams feel other worldly
For all one feels is love
Love pure love

A serene calmness
Embraces the demons that need to play
Depths of depression
At times
Feel like it will never go away
The ache that shatters
Barriers that helped protect
The constant beating
Of the rapidness of a pounding heart
Doubt seeps in
In waves that ebb like a lulling sway
Tearing the undiscerned feelings
Break away
Piece by piece
Taking what was once strong
Observe it as it falls a part
Shattering to smithereens
Where happiness once belongs
Black ink streams to swirl
The subconscious
Confusion appears to wallow
And elevate the illusion
Tendrils wrap around
Lies are easier to swallow
Versus the painful truth

It’s almost time to say good bye
To the month of May
24 hours have quickly
Formed 5 months for 2018
Where has time flown by
In a wink of an eye
It’s another day
Yet we’re all feeling overwhelmed
I find I truly love all seasons
There is something about Spring
I wish it would stay
Just a little while longer
Perhaps it’s the idea of rebirth
Where my body aches to be stronger
Kissing you goodbye until next year

A few more days of Spring
