Skewed perceptions
18 months have passed
Created a collection of thoughts
With a rhythm and sometimes a rhyme
18 months have evolved
Anxious about collecting
Much have happened
Though friendships have fought
Pathway where Egos have crossed
Internet droves
Apprehensive communication
Based on formulations that belie
Hidden secrets
Behind those pretty avatars
Hiding grotesque scars

As a little girl of three
I was told a bedtime story
About the "Princess and the Pea"
Testing her limits on her sensitivity
This particular story hit home for me
Especially as a child of three
Empathically whether negative or positive
Visions and whisperings
For I was highly sensitive
I believed the story was written about me
Though I understood
I was a princess for my father and mother
Joyfully skipping happily

He knew I was the Forever girl
That's why I scared him

He told me I was too opinionated
That I seemed like I didn't need him
I told him not many knew how to accept me
Made promises they couldn't keep
With someone they couldn't break
He said he loved the strength in me
Because I took my broken pieces
And still shared love

It's all in the act of observation
The proper ability to listen
This society is too busy
Interrupting for a chance to speak
To bother to hear
Everything you want to know
Is presented
Right in front of you
I made that common mistake
Didn't listen
Yet my intuition kept insisting
That something is wrong
Damn it
That sixth sense of mine
Is always right
Those tiny little triggers
Nagging of the brain
Ache in the tummy
It's really all the same
Alerting
Coercing to face the music
I'm being played
Like a rotten game

Sleep deprived the imagination is wide
Scope of darkness from the flickering spark
Of the candlelight
Beware of what you rationally aspire
Logic is not always true
Passion flames one to inspire
Enjoy the shadows playing against the wall
Beware of your wherewithal

Circumvolution of vast emotions
Expand across each appendage of the body
Variance of highs and lows
Littered with confusion
Sensations are complex
When unable to express sentiments
Maintaining a stiff upper lip
Perceptions when someone is mourning
Can be misunderstood
Bewilderment from the commotion
Of all the feelings
That are entertwined like a spool of thread
With thousands of knots
Trying to unravel the knotty mass
Unknown where to begin
The choking in the throat
Makes it hard to forget
Pain emanates difficult to focus
Waiting for some other distraction
In hopes for some type of easement

Activity within my own thoughts
Perplex me
For each death
Onslaught of convoluted emotions
Come rambling in
Deciphering them has been the task at hand
For even when I cry
It's intermingled with fathomless
Feelings confusing me
Times like these
I wish I wasn't so sensitive
To feel so deeply
