I hear ya.

this is what I have been saying for about 8 months now. he has allowed a drop in his fitness and sooner or later it was going to show.

his body hit the wall at the Australian Open and it nearly hit the wall in Paris.

and he has not even played his usual number of matches going into paris.

so I hope he starts paying more attention to his fitness.

and now even tony agrees: he said nole is physically stronger and more fit.

Pete sent Rafa a congratulatory email. What a class act.

Rafael Nadal clinches record ninth French Open title

“You are a great champion, Rafa,” Sampras said in an email sent to CNN. “Congratulations on number 14.”

pistol pete is all class and I am a fan.

princess emma has posted a lot of stuff about the great pistol. once I started to read more about him and actually took a good look at all the highlight reels, I had no choice but to admire his class and his tennis.

Oh yes. Pete and Rafa have so much in common regarding their personalities. They both always gave their opponents credit, spoke truthfully about how a match went down. They have always had class and dignity. Even now, Pete has the wherewithal to personally congratulate Rafael, even though Rafa just equaled him.

He's spoken in the past about how he doesn't know Rafa as well as he knows Fed, but he's always been respectful to Nadal and given him credit for his talents. He's spoken of Rafa's talents in glowing terms, and it takes a big man to do that.

this French open is just what rafa needed. it will restore a lot of his confidence back for the north american hard court circuit now.

not sure if he can bag both Toronto and Cincy again but he should be able to do well there anyway.

and I am picking him right now and right here for the title at flushing meadows.

Well, well, well, what a difference a (Sun)day makes. Last week you could've been picked up for felonious assault for your irritation with Rafa at him not doing what you told him to do.

And I could be scolded for losing a bit of the faith. How many times is Rafa going to have to prove to both the public and his most adoring fans, that the monikers of gladiator and warrior are genuine?

No matter what ebbs and flows he goes through, Rafa always somehow manages to surprise the tennis world, time after time again (we should be used to this).

It's like a rollercoaster being his fan, but once the ride is over, you realize just how exhilarating it was as you went through it.

Now, we can bask in our (temporary) euphoria for a week or so, before we get antsy and start doubting The Kin9, once more. For now, let's just enjoy it. We sure spent enough emotional energy to afford us that, LOL.

well I am his greatest fan on the planet and also all the galaxies but I am also his greatest critic.

of course I am not happy with him.

but I always call it like I see it and I call it fairly and justly. and quite often I catch rafa saying the same thing I am saying. only me and general masterclass say it long before rafa says it or even so called the tennis experts say it.

it is probably because we have watched his every move on the court. we know his game and we know his tennis sensitivities on the court.

I never deviated for a second. I said rafa in straights or 4 in the final no matter who is the adversary.

rafa actually floundered a little bit in the first set. it could have been in straights.

at any rate this French open title was absolutely crucial to my calling it this early for the title at flushing meadows.

now I am certain that he will snatch his 15th major at the u.s. open.

its rafa in straights or 4 sets no matter who is the adversary.

he is 14-6 in slam finals. once he gets there, its a fairly tough ask to derail him.

it really should have been 17-3 already but those are lost opportunities. I think he has time to make that up.

I now, that's what cracks me up about you. You take Rafa to task for the things he fails to do, but then you support and believe in him at the same time. It's almost like when your parents say, "this is going to hurt me, more than it's going to hurt you."And with the same parental devotion, you never give up on your per(son).

Yes, you did call it and you never faltered. That's very comforting for me, because at times I can get a little stressed out about Rafa's game. I'm so glad you kept the faith.
