it has already become a joke of a place.

I only looked at one thread this morning and I saw just 3-4 posts at best.

I saw somebody trying to insult crisstti.

so I responded quickly and then left.

anyway that place can go to hell in a hand basket for all I care. I only taken an occasional glance to see what kind of crap they are peddling there.

it looks like Rafa never gets a break and his fans never get a break either.

I know. Crissti is a great poster, so of course people pick the best apples off the tree.

If they don't like Nadal, they don't want anyone else to like him either.

That blows my mind. There are some players that I don't care for either, but I see nothing wrong with others liking them. To each their own. Caring about people's personal likes is a sign of insecurity. Caring about your perceptions of strangers is hilarious.

It's not that deep. People need to lighten up. It's irritating when posters continually try to lay down the gauntlet for others. I guess they think they're perfect. Now, that's a real hoot.

But, as long as they allow that mess, eventually the forum will self-destruct. That would be a good thing since it's turned into a pool of hatred filled with hypocritical self-appointed idiots.

its the same old crap 100% of the time if you ask me.

who really has the time and the patience to prove anything to a single minded idiot anyway.

I have better things to do with my time than to engage morons around the clock about one thing or another.

it proves absolutely nothing. I saw it all at MTF and now I am seeing it at tennis warehouse.

I don't give a damn about all these endless GOAT arguments.

and I don't give a damn about some flunky who gets his rocks off trashing players 24 hours a day.

nadal faked nothing. the man was in tears because he was in so much pain and he knew he was not going to be able to pull it off.

nobody walks away from the kind of history he was about to make. nobody. nadal was injured and he is still injured.

all these players at the top have incredible games. the great ones are able to weather the storm and emerge as victors.

that is what nadal has done all his life:

he has weathered endless injury storms and he has endured and weathered endless storms on the court.

and he still has a winning record against 100% of the top 30 players.

I agree 100%.

But some people are hell bent on destruction. That's what they live for, to put other people down. How horrible it must be to live such a miserable existence. Where all you have to do in life is to try to point out the flaws in others.

The sad thing is that they don't recognize themselves. That's the real pity.

I don't get it. I don't judge other people's opinions, because it's an opinion that they're entitled to, but I also don't put up with other people trying to judge mine.

The mature thing is to recognize that people are different and different perspectives, but that's simply too hard for them.

anyway my time is far more valuable than to deal with endless fools about nothing.

and I don't care what they think because vast majority of them are bogus. they are also dishonest and unfair and devoid of any objectivity.

I personally rather take some of my relaxation time and create and build something meaningful.

Camelot will stand the test of time and it will have endured many trials like it is doing now but one day we will all be proud that we alone believed when nobody else did or was willing to.

I firmly believe that we are making great strides here. our moment in the sun will come.

we will get our 300 people here one day.

and one day we will have 15-20 very cool and very thoughtful people posting here on somewhat regular basis.

rafa will be in Barcelona in the morning.

It must not be televised. I checked my DVR up to Tuesday and it's not on there. It may be a case of where they show it tape-delayed.

Sometimes, TTC makes some weird decisions. I watched the semifinals of the WTA's Paris event and they're not showing the final until Tuesday. If you're on the 'net at all you'll see the result. It won't be that much fun watching that.

Part of the fun of watching tennis is the uncertainty and the fact that anything can happen. I hate knowing the result beforehand, unless it's one of my favorites. Then, I'll watch it to see how they did it.

herc, I totally agree with  EI Dude with this:

"Kieran, do you honestly believe that any criticism of Nadal automatically comes down to Federer fans jealously? Not only is that obtuse, its rather insulting.

But here's the problem: we can't discuss Rafa's demeanor without instantly referring to Federer, therefore this turns into another silly round of Rafa vs. Roger - which to me is where tennis fandom loses interest for me. Its just another version of "my dad is stronger than your dad!" yet by grown people (men, mostly). There's not even an attempt at objectivity, but just knee-jerk defenses of one's favorite player.

I mean, here's an honest question (especially for Kieran, who seems to be the most entrenched Nadalite in this conversation): Can you discuss this issue of Rafa without immediately attacking Federer? And its worth noting that Novak has been completely excised from the conversation? Can Rafa fans leave Federer out of it?"

I am not a Federer fan and it is tiresome to read that Nadal is unbeatable at his best and he only loses when he's injured or not playing at 100%. There are some just some delusional Nadal fans out there who make assertions like that night and day. It's bound to tick some fans off. It ticks me off and it has nothing to do with Federer.

Here's another post by EI Dude that I really enjoyed reading. I agree on all accounts. I maybe in love. And I hear he's a teacher. All the more reason for me to fall deeply in love. ;D

=================================================================

Well since its been derailed, I'll join the fray.

As I said elsewhere, so often we like to say our favorite player lost because he was injured, or not on his game, or distracted by a distant cousin's bout with the flu...all of which may have some truth to it. But let us not forget that players are not machines, that they aren't either "on" or "off," and there are always a variety of factors figuring into how they play on a given day. It may be human nature to look for easy, clean answers - but those are the kind of answers that are usually wrong, or at least reductionistic.

A couple years ago, after Rosol beat Nadal, I said something to the effect that all professional players--especially those in the top 100--are capable of truly great tennis. The difference between a Nadal and Rosol isn't only a matter of how great they can play at their absolute best, but how frequently they can reach their absolute best, and in what conditions. I'd even say that the difference between Nadal and Rosol at their very best is smaller than many might believe, but that the difference in their greatness has far more to do with Rafa's ability to channel that greatness more frequently. Everyone has good and bad days, but how often can we create the conditions within ourselves to have a good day?

So when we look at Rafa's Grand Slam record, for instance, we see a lot of gaps and early exits - far more than Novak or Roger, at least during their respective primes. We can't use that to either write Rafa off as being not as great as his fans want him to be, or use them to support Rafa and say that he's even better than his record because of all of those injuries. Staying healthy--and playing at one's best--are part of greatness, not obstacles or pathways to it.

This is why I'm a fan of leaning heavily on the actual statistical record, the results. Federer fans might look at his match-ups with Nadal and say, "Roger was winning all of them until Rafa got to his head and he lost more than Rafa won," and thereby support their view that Roger is actually greater. But, in the end, Rafa is 23-10, not the other way around. Psychology is a huge part of greatness.

On the other hand, we can't simply say that because Rafa is 23-10 against Roger, he's much better. There are other factors, so many that it becomes very complex (e.g. the fact that Roger's game just doesn't match up well against Rafa's). I'm not even saying that we should stick to the results and the results only, but that they do mean a lot and don't require interpretation.

On a side note, it is interesting to me that Rafa receives such ire from his non-fans. I wonder if it is partially a personality thing, because he does come across as rather pouty, which ends up seeming less dignified than Roger's stoicism. Or it might be because he's so damned good, or his style of play that causes people to beat themselves just as much he scores winners and crafts points, or....all of the above and more.

That said, of the Big Four, I've got to say that Rafa is the most irritating loser, just as Novak is the most irritating winner (the shirt pulling), although Novak makes up for it by being such a gracious loser. Roger is pretty mild on both accounts, which may be why he's less annoying to most, and Andy still has that veneer of underdog so its hard to fault whatever his response is.

===============================================================

I wonder if Owen will hold me responsible for stealing posts from TF.

el dude is a great writer and one of the best but don't forget that he is heavily leaning towards Federer 100% of the time.

he is definitely an impressive writer.

look as far as rafa and fed go, rafa is simply better. there is no other way to slice that apple.

23-10 and especially the slam finals record against the two says it all. nobody can dance around that no matter how hard they try.

fed got rafa twice on grass while rafa was still a kid and learning.

and to fed's credit, he did play phenomenal tennis in those Wimbledon finals.

but it has been all rafa in the slam finals ever since.

even fed is on record for saying that the last man he wants to see across the net is rafa.

bottom line on that is this: fed has a better overall resume but if it is between those two, one has to have the conclusion that nadal has the upper hand. nadal is just better. fed has no answers for nadal. how else can anybody call it?

as for rosol and other upsets, it is tennis. upsets do happen in sports. top players and the all time greats usually manage to win but they are human. compraring rosol to nadal is madness. nadal wins more matches in a single year than rosol will in his entire career.

nadal is not young anymore and it takes a lot out of him to dominate the clay circuit. and he has been doing that for 10 long years.

he is mentally and physically spent now after tearing apart the clay circuit. that is the biggest reason why he has lost the last 2 times early at Wimbledon.

nadal made 5 Wimbledon finals when he was younger.

2 other reasons why he has lost at Wimbledon early in the last 2 years:

1. there is a slight drop in his fitness
2. he has not really improved his return and his serve much in the last 2 years

sunday night is my night to stay up late.

actually it is sundays and mondays.

I added a few andy pics from davis cup and I added a few of my fancy sports images to rafa's 2nd picture and art gallery.

I also added a few jokes to Emma's joke thread at Emma's world.

tomorrow I will add some content to the great Rafael nadal center.

perhaps more short videos and short articles about rafa.

rome was not built in a day. Camelot will take some time but we will get there one day.

I am going to stay the course.

all ships are safe in the harbor but that is not why they build the ships.

we left the harbor and now there is no turning back. we will sail to the promised land.

some people just cant be stopped. I am one of those people.

so very few of us that are here for now are also those people.

this is a small society of very brave and very courageous people. we will sail on right through the turbulent and difficult seas.

god watches over the people of Camelot. god has our back.

I agree. But what's left out is that it's the Fed Fans who are always on that Fed is the Goat thing and Rafa is crap. Many of then can't even stick to tennis, but go off on cheating, lying, fake, drugging, etc.

You can't respect that.

All the while knowing that Fed has been dominated by Nadal since Nadal was a teenager.

I don't see how you can get around that. It doesn't make sense to me.
