herc, you've lost interest in IW as soon as Nadal went out the other day. Say it ain't so.
affirmative. I have no interest in the hard courts right now.
I am worried to death about my player. its all about the clay season for me right now.
the sooner I see Rafa in monte carlo the better I can start feeling.
See that's the reason why I feel today's fans are much more of players' fans (mostly top players) than they are fans of the game itself quite unfortunately. And by that I don't only mean Nadal fans - it's true for Federer fans, Nole fans and Murray fans as well. Once these guys drop and go out of the tennis radar, these fans will drop as well. Either that or they will become fans of the next big thing. I can already see that they are on the verge of looking. While Federer fans have found Dimitrov, Nadal fans are still looking for their next big Spanish player but perhaps they are not in super hurry since Nadal still has a few years left in him. And Murray fans will move on to the next British player and same for all the Serbs who support Nole now. I know if Dimitrov doesn't deliver then most Federer fans will take a hike and will probably go away from tennis forever. It's all about the results, subsequent glory and the ultimate path to reserve the nonstop bragging right for most after all.
So by that token, I should actually bow out as well until the grass season since Murray doesn't have all that credential on clay, innit.
well I am still following all the developments in our sport as they have a bearing on our own players.
its just that at around this time of the year I start dreaming about by beloved red clay. I like that surface a lot.
this indian wells has not been all that exciting for me because of the one sided draw.
and once andy and rafa crashed out, I lost even more interest.
we watch them all play here and there but we are also all spoiled: the all time greats that are out there offer the best product for us to enjoy. they alone are the most consistent and have been consistent over the last decade.
so out of those all time greats that are out there, we tend to follow some with a little more passion and interest than the others because we find them appealing at various levels and for various reasons. perhaps we like the way they fight and compete.
there is something about them that we--the fans--want to identify with.
