I saw some news on twitter:
a 47 year old woman gave birth to triplets. they are all healthy.
amazing stuff.
Anything is possible with the fertility drugs these days, herc darling. They say, the likelyhood of having twins has increased dramatically since the 80s. In fact it has seen about 76% since then.
Here's a good read on it. It's important people educate themselves before making ignorant comments.
-----------------------------------------------------------
How common are twins and other multiple births? As of 2010, twins accounted for about 1 in 30 births in the United States – or 3.3 percent. And 1 in 726 births resulted in triplets or higher-order multiples.
Over the past 30 years, the birth rate for twins rose by about 76 percent. The rate of triplets and higher-order multiples quadrupled from 1980 to 1998, but then started to decline.
What caused the rise in multiples? Part of it was due to women tending to wait until they were older to have a baby. As you get older, hormonal changes make it more likely that your body will release more than one egg at a time. And more than one fertilized egg often means more than one baby.
But most of the rise in multiple births was due to the use of fertility drugs and assisted reproductive technology (ART) to help women conceive. These treatments greatly increase a woman's chance of having twins or higher-order multiples.
The increase in twins has slowed over the past decade, possibly because fertility treatments have become more refined.http://www.babycenter.com/0_your-likelihood-of-having-twins-or-more_3575.bc-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
