I am a bit heartbroken no doubt. It was a Major event after all.

While Wawrinka played very well just like he did against Berdcyh, Andy never once played his best tennis and not only here in the qtr but in any of his matches thus far. He never once looked pumped up or into any match. I do think Wimbledon has done him good for the year. The only event I see he trying a bit is WTF otherwise I don't see him winning anything else this year and his ranking will probably fall too a bit. Wimbledon win was huge for him and both Darren and Johnny Mac kept talking about before every match of Andy how he was having a mental letdown since then. He's lost Toronto, Cincy, USO all in straight sets and a player of Andy's calibre doesn't lose in that fashion - not in three straight  back to back tournaments. Wawrinka is a very good player no doubt and occasionally can cause trouble to any top player, but anyone who's truly convinced of Andy losing to him in straight in Major - not even one single set going to TB then hey, more power to you. Thankfully not all of us are so dumb and actually know tennis a bit more.

Apparently neither Judy nor Kim was there so this does cast a bit more doubt on things. It all seems a bit too determined.

Here's a twitter I found which helped me understand the problem a bit more "@BenRothenberg: Andy Murray admitted that after the enormity of winning Wimbledon for him, it was hard to fire himself back up and train at "110%."

Some of his fans may ask what now. Nothing really. Andy doesn't have anything to worry about. Nadal after all lost his match to a nobody in the very first round at Wimboledon. Federer has now taken two losses back to back in Majors - and he too lost in straight to Robredo of all people. Andy did lead Wawrinka 6-2 on hard before this match (8-5 overall) but still he's much better opponent than Nadal's at Wimbledon and Federer's.

Anyway, since Andy doesn't care about the ranking he can gladly let players like Nole, Rafa fight it all out this year. In the meantime, he can now afford to enjoy his life and enjoy all his victories he had over the last 12/14 months or so (Olympics, USO, Wimbledon). It will do him good. I know he's very keen on winning AO as he discussed it recently and said he'd made the final a few times so he'd like to win that one, so until then.

As to me, I will not be watching any tennis either. This is it for me this year. I have a project that I need to finish by the 2nd week of January so I will be very busy regardless and since this is part of my bonus goal, I'd like to concentrate really hard and pay all my attention to that. I am also very tired of all the drama that has happened on forums since Wimbledon so I feel it's high time for me to take a break as well. I am not saying I will completely go away but perhaps get less involved.
