Pathetic US coverage to start with. No profile on players, no actual footage of the players stepping in to the court, no nothing. Just a typical courtesy whom they beat on their way to the final and then we were thrown into the match in less than 10 minutes. USO has very quickly become the most pathetic Slam for me - with their rigged draw, biased schedules and most of all, the pathetic crowd - especially against Cilic. It is a heavily corrupt organization. I am sure if Federer or Nadal had made the final we would have never heard the end of it and CBS would have covered at least an hour just doting on those two to the point of pure vomit. I get that they are the biggest draws but enough of is enough. Let us see the new generation. Let us get to know them. Let us let them shine too. Let us give them a chance too. Do they not deserve it? Because last time I checked they bloody beat all the top player to come this far.
Inever really liked the USO scheduling to begin with because this has been the case for years now where a particular player would get all sorts of favours, but this year it has taken a new low perhaps lowest of all lows. It was already quite pathetic when last year they put the defending Champion (Murray in this case) play on Wednesday at pm at night when all the matches had been completed and some even completed their 2nd round matches. Talk about treating the defending champion in the worst possible manner.
Pathetic Slam, pathtic organizers, pathetic crowd. It's now my least favourite Slam along with the French Open (FO mostly because of the annoying crowd)
But what a slap it was from Cilic against the crowd when he remained cool and continued to serve great to dismiss their idol in straight. Finally he was able to put all his fears aside and play like a man. Good for him and good for Nishikori.
This year has definitely started with a bang with Wawrinka claiming the first Slam of the year, followed by Nick Kyrgios taking Nadal out from Wimbledon in the 4th round. And now finally, Cilic who took Federer out and Nishi who took Djokovic out. One of them will also claim the last Slam of the year. What a wonderful story. I hope it stays that way next year and so on with Andy Murray of course leading the pack.
