herc darling,
Dancing Queen is ABBA's most popular song and one of the greatest songs (top 10) of all time. It hit the No. 1 in most countries upon release including US. The reason why I mention US is because US snubbed Abba when they were taking the world by storm in the 70s. The main reason being is that, the Americans very rarely like (or even familiar with) any music outside their country (the only exception they make is in case of Uk but only because they have to) and ABBA themselves weren't too keen on US as a result; therefore, they never wanted to tour US because they weren't into appearing in silly TV shows in the States. They preferred Canada much better and Canada was much more receptive. In any case, ABBA outsold everyone outside US - be it UK (9 No. 1 hits in UK alone and 22 No. 1 hits worldwide) or Australia or Japan or most of Europe, Asia and South America or let's say rest of the world. There's a reason why the Hollywood movie
Mamma Mia became the biggest selling musical film in history of musical films is precisely that - people all around the world is very familiar with ABBA's music while Amerian fans are just discovering it. It made $602,500,560 worldwide and sitting inside top 100 of all time box office hits. As I mentioned before, Madonna made millions by taking a sample of Abba's Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie! Madonna is your Agnetha wannabe. Anyway, Abba is a money pit (all those who made covers of Abba songs made a ton of money as well not to mention the movie and the stage versions of it all round the globe) and it's only because they were a super group (and not just some Europop) and the 2nd biggest band in history (after Beatles). And rest assured, had Americans embraced ABBA the way rest of the World did, they would have been the No. 1 band of all time. In the long run, they are bound to outsell both Beatles and Elvis Presley no matter how much any one country snubs them. They are universally loved and adored. And ABBA is not just a pop group or disco group. Only ignorant people who have not listened to all their songs would make comments like those. Apparently, 'cool' people don't like Abba and when they say they are 'cool' you should know that you are anything but 'cool'. When something needs defining then you should automatically know that you don't have it. You are not cool. You are just an ignorant being.
Anyway, here's an instrumental number from ABBA that I feel you will like it. This is however a cover. Just showing how far their popularity has gone.
