I can't stop thinking about the amount of slacks Nadal would have received by his usual naysayers had he pulled out of a tournament final less than an hour ago and that's from a tournament as heavy as WTF. Federer got off easy. Personally, I am not very convinced about his 'back' problem. As he said himself, after the match against Wawrinka who had a MP against him and pushed him to the last minute, he just didn't have enough to compete against a very well rested Nole. And we all know that one must bring ones' best against the best of the bests. But pulling out just an hour before only based on that reason seems cowardly, so the back problem had to come in play. In truth, Nole would have slaughtered him there and that would have not been a smart ending to the otherwise successful year for Federer.

What made me truly laugh about this though is the fact that this happens to be the tournament where only top 8 - the best of the bests compete and yet, all we saw was pretty one sided matches. Weak era screaming its head off. A 33 year old is still ranked 2 while others are either mental midgets or can't compete due to injuries etc.

And just when people were convinced Federer was that good against a very happy go lucky Andy, Wawrinka comes out in the next match and nearly takes him out.

Now I am reading a lot of controversial stuff about the Federer/Wawrinka match as well. Apparently Mirka was aiming some of her verbal distractions at Wawrinka, especially when he was playing at her side of the court. She apparently called Wawrinka a 'cry baby' towards the end of the final set to which Wawrinka stopped playing for a few moments, when Federer was about to serve. Wawrinka also complained that she had done the same thing at this year's Wimbledon as well. Apparently the fight continued long hours into the night in the changing room. I must say, she's, especially nowadays, coming off as the new Uncle Toni in Federer's camp no doubt.

I got a true glimpse of her when Nole took a long walk inside the Wimbledon building after winning Wimbledon this year and while everyone was applauding him, she just stood there totally ignoring Nole looking busy fiddling with her phone. Man, after winning all those titles, one would think the competitive level would subside a little bit and these two would become a bit more humble but nope. Such things do not exist just yet.

Too bad Wawrinka didn't win. We could have at least seen a final though I am sure Stan would have been just as tired but the audience would have seen a final and their money would have been well spent. I noticed by the time the exo doubles match started, the stadium was already half empty. Those must have been the Federer fans who came to see him and some perhaps Nole fans.
