About how much top sportsmen\women sleep. Federer sleeps 11-12 hours every night!!!
I don't think it's part of his training regime. He probably has always slept for longer hours. For instance, I can only sleep 8 hours tops but that too comes with a condition, as in, I am a light sleeper by nature so, I sleep for 7/8 hours by stretch. But when my sleep is very deep, I wake up after 5/6 hours of sleep. And a very active mind tends sleep less. For example, Einstein would barely get any sleep as his mind was very active, because he'd constantly think about many aspects of physics trying to figure out many paradoxes, dogmas etc. within science. So in other words, I don't think Federer has a very active mind and perhaps he doesn't think about anything other his family and tennis. And that allows him sleep for longer hours. Women, for example, tend to sleep less than men and that's because they tend to think or worry much more than men, albeit about mundane matters.
