I think it's a tactic they use to intimidate the opponents. Both Shara and Aza are on it. Monica was genuine or so I'd like to believe. And she was the only person in the 90s who's screaming was noticeable. Speaks volume about this era.

they not only try to intimidate their opponents with their off the charts screaming, they also try to throw their games off.

I mean I would be distracted as hell if I was playing against somebody who was screaming like that.

you also want to be able the hear the ball being struck.
