rafa`s inside out forehand looks good. he is getting in the groove with it again.



the negatives: he still shows little or no confidence at the net. he hit a swinging volley again which came back for a slice backhand winner from berlocq.
he missed a drop volley attempt also. so this is one area he has to make some improvements.
I don't know why he is so damn terrified of the net.


he hit a drop volley which could have been easily put away at the net. this is a fast court.
this one did not come  back but why not end the bloody point when you are at the net.

movement: looks stale and tired.

back on the positive side: his return off the backhand wing is improving or looking better.

And Johnny Mac called him the best volleyer amongst the big four LOL. His volleying was so good back in 2009/2010

did you happen to see nadal`s queen`s final against nole a few years back? I think it was in 2008.


he went to the net confidently in that match. he was simply brilliant at the net in that match.

at any rate, I think you are right. he was far more fearless at the net a few years ago. he can volley. something just stops him at times.

probably because he has a risk averse game and risk averse mindset. on quicker courts he has to try to be more aggressive and more fearless.

and you have to show them that you are a force at the net too.

Yeah, even in 2008 he was serving great.

nadal is a lot smarter player these days but he was far more fearless a few years ago.

that is why he won 12 titles in 2005 as a youngster.



I just talked with my parents as well. I am trying to get them to come down to the gulf coast this weekend.

I know a girl here who can get me rooms at any casino on the coast. so I can get rooms for free.

mom and dad like to stay at the casino hotel when they come down.

Murder Trial

 A defendant was on trial for murder. There was very strong evidence indicating guilt, but no corpse had been found. In the defense’s closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, decided to try a trick.

 "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom!"

 He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked, eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.

 Finally, the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But you all looked on with anticipation. I therefore put it to you that there is reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed and insist that you return a verdict of not guilty."

 With that, the jury retired to deliberate. But after only a few minutes, they came back and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

 "But how?" the lawyer asked. "You must have had some doubt. I saw all of you stare at the door."

 "Oh, yes," the jury foreman replied. "We all looked - but your client didn’t!"
 

When I woke up Delpo was already a set and a break ahead in the second. Rafa had a break point which he missed. Delpo played agressively with deep balls on Rafa's backhand and then powerful forehands to force Rafa into errors.

Hopefully he keeps the intensity tomorrow and wins the title, he is long overdue for a Masters title.
