Great fight from Nadal to save a set point at 5:6 and then save another one and win the tiebreak.

Then he breaks right away in the second set. Still not playing very well, his serving has been pretty crappy in this match, Stan win some spectacular return winners!

this game is brutal. you only get a few chances against the best. you are dead in the water if you don't take them.

nadal tried to give away the breaker but stan would not take it. maybe the 2nd set would have been different if he had taken that breaker.


anyway I am going to get on the road. see you next time around.


I still think that the players to watch here del potro and nole.

you can just see it on nadal`s face. he is out of gas. the guy looks anything but fresh and ready.

he looks tired and his movement is stale and weary.

nadal's draw is quite tough.


he  now has to defeat the two hottest players on the tour to win this event.


nole has beaten tsonga 6 times in a row.


this is a very tough assignment for tsonga.

nole has taken 6 in a row from Tsonga.

rafa got a very tough draw this time.

wawrinka is a tough customer. the guy has incredible power off the ground. he can also serve pretty damn huge.

and now nadal has to deal with the hardest hitter on the planet. de potro is serving bigger than he ever has. being 6 foot 6 doesn't hurt if you want a massive serve.

now that this match is here, nadal has to make it work for him. dealing with del potro will prepare him best for the final but he cant spend 3+ hours on the court against him.

so that is the key for nadal. finish del potro in 2 hours and 30 minutes or less and then take his best shot in the final.


I am not waking up early to watch this one. I will just have to catch it tomorrow night on the tennis channel.

poor stan. as big as his game is, he still has no answers for players who are ranked #1.

he is 0-14 against #1 ranked players.

I am pretty sure he did beat Fed once but maybe Fed was #2 at the time.
