Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from Boodles with wrist bothering him again. Not sure how will affect his Wimbledon effort.

Boris Becker is on top of the situation.

I imagine that Nole and Jelena's marriage and honeymoon very soon should fix that wrist.
He'll be able to rest that hand. ;)

Just 3 weeks until Wimbledon.

I am not happy with the Silent Swiss Assassin.

He could have used another match or two on clay for his ground preparation coming into the grass season.

There is still work to do for him.  Maybe it will work out for the best.  He is not getting any younger, and too many matches at RG might have tired him for the grass.  We will see.

Respectfully,
masterclass

In retrospect, it might have worked out better. Fed got a chance to acclimate himself to grass, and although initially he was a little rusty, in the end he brought the trophy home.

Still can't get over him being unaware that he had won the match. That was hilarious.

Federer has a tricky draw as well. he could meet stan wawrinka in a possible quarterfinal showdown.

que pasa baron.

seems like I have had much better luck with RG and the U.S. Open.

in fact I want to go on record right now and pick Rafa for the title at flushing meadows.

wimby has become more tricky for Rafa.

Rafa lost early the last 2 years.

he has not returning well enough by his own standards even on clay this year. that is going to take its toll on grass.

he has to find a way to return well on grass if he is to advance deep into the event.

I think rafa wants to do really well this year and looks motivated. part of that motivation is that he is trying to hang on to his top rank.

so obviously I wish rafa the best there. one big positive for him this year is that his knee is not as bad as it was last year.

my pick for the title is Andy. I think he will be in the final and should be able to take it home from there.

I hear nole continues to have some wrist issues so that may affect his chances there.

at any rate how are you seeing this unfold?

I've predicted a Nadal/Murray final (that Nadal wins) but Nadal has a loaded early draw with a few banana skins.  If he navigates through to the business end of the tournament - he'll be tough to stop.  Federer has a good draw and if Nadal gets knocked out then he's in the mix for the title.  A Murray/Federer final would be a "pick em" type match for me.

that is excellent analysis baron.

here is how one writer sees this. I just found this at yahoo:

Third-round predictions:

[1] Novak Djokovic vs. [31] Vasek Pospisil
 [14] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. [17] Mikhail Youzhny
[12] Ernests Gulbis vs. [18] Fernando Verdasco
[6] Tomas Berdych vs. [26] Marin Cilic

[3] Andy Murray vs. [27] Roberto Bautista-Agut
[16] Fabio Fognini vs. [20] Kevin Anderson
[11] Grigor Dimitrov vs. [21] Alexandr Dolgopolov
[7] David Ferrer vs. [25] Andreas Seppi

[5] Stan Wawrinka vs. [32] Dmitry Tursunov
[9] John Isner vs. [19] Feliciano Lopez
[15] Jerzy Janowicz vs. [23] Tommy Robredo
[4] Roger Federer vs. [30] Marcel Granollers

[8] Milos Raonic vs. [28] Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
[10] Kei Nishikori vs. [22] Philipp Kohlchreiber
[13] Richard Gasquet vs. [24] Gaël Monfils
[2] Rafael Nadal vs. [29] Ivo Karlovic

Round of 16 predictions:

[1] Novak Djokovic vs, [14] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
[6] Tomas Berdych vs. [12] Ernests Gulbis
[3] Andy Murray vs. [20] Kevin Anderson
[7] David Ferrer vs. [11] Grigor Dimitrov

[5] Stan Wawrinka vs. [19] Feliciano Lopez
[4] Roger Federer vs. [15] Jerzy Janowicz
[8] Milos Raonic vs. [10] Kei Nishikori
[2] Rafael Nadal vs. [13] Richard Gasquet

Quarter-final predictions:

[1] Novak Djokovic vs. [12] Ernests Gulbis
[3] Andy Murray vs. [11] Grigor Dimitrov
[4] Roger Federer vs [5] Stan Wawrinka
[2] Rafael Nadal vs. [10] Kei Nishikori

Nadal vs Andy final is probably a tough call. Andy tends to do quite well on grass. what happened in queens is bit of an outlier for Andy. I expected Andy to snatch that title but it was just not meant to be. he had a rough day at the office and could not quite get untracked.

he is far better in the best of 5 sets formats on grass. I think he will progress and improve with each match at Wimbledon.

only question is this: who will be the man across the net from Andy in the final?

if it is Rafa then its a close call. but if it is roger then I have to say Andy.

Roger is not young anymore so the long grind of 7 best of 5 sets matches could start to take its toll. Andy will make it a very physical match.

I am starting to feel a little better about Rafa simply because he looks motivated and the knee is better. after the way it has gone for him the last 2 years I have been a bit reluctant to make any predictions for him.

lets just say that things may be looking up for Rafa but we will have to see.

nole has suddenly become suspect in best of 5 sets formats against the top guns. it wont get any easier if the wrist issue is compounded.

I do expect Roger to gun down Stan in the quarters but he may start to tire a little bit after that. again we will just have to see. he has been working hard on his fitness so he could surprise.
