Good reminder. 

Painful watching them go down the path of destruction
The addiction has taken hold
Their recriminations stronger as the time passes longer
Blaming getting bold
You can see their thoughts spinning a new yarn
To get everyone in on the game
Which will never end well
For they continually blame
The pain has been too long
Pushing it down and watching it manifest into a critical illness
It’s perfectly clear I never belonged
My heart hurts to watch this unfold
Months, to years to decades of promises
Stating it’s good as gold
Watching the deterioration like the paint chipping from the walls
Rosy colored glasses ****
Doing their best to see through the shattered glass
Leaving me with no options
Never saw this coming to this way
The dread as life is showing me the dead
Knocking the thoughts out of my head
Trying so hard not to stay in bed
When the answers lead to the same path
No matter how we twist and turn the math
