Good evening, herc. I didn't get to see the match but I did follow the score online and I was very sure Nole was going to take the 3rd. Good effort by Federer for taking the 2nd set however. At least he's pushing these top guys and that isn't easy considering his age.

Didn't Nole put him aside in 2 easy sets just last week? Anyway, he's a good player but he's inconsistent and also, not as lethal as Berdych on the big stage. Yes, yes I know he's taken out Murray only recently from the USO but that had much more to do with Andy than Wawrinka.

Yea, judging by Nadal's stats, it doesn't seem like he played a clean match. Lots of errors. I do think he's quite jaded. It's been a really long year for him. Lots of titles. If he wins the next match then I take it his ranking at No. 1 is safe. Wawrinka has a mental block against Nadal but let's see what he can bring to the table this time around. H2H is abysmal however but I am sure there's always a first time in anything.

by the time 3rd set starts, it is usually too late. nole has his teeth into the match by then and he has his rhythm.

nole is just too tough. all you can do at this point is to congratulate him and move on to the next match.

nole is just a runaway freight train on the hard courts right now.

But that's a bit of an impossible deal for Federer these days since he can't play consistent tennis for two sets especially if they are long and tight. He can play one full set well. Maybe he needs some sort of strategy on that. Not necessarily a top player is going to play bad for two sets - be it Nadal or Nole or Murray or even DP. So I think it requires different game strategies.

roger said he was looking for a much stronger season in 2014.


about all he can do at this point is work even harder to get to where he wants to go.

I do see murray coming back stronger than ever. he is already working hard to make that happen. he was not able to play all these months . there is considerable pent up frustration.

and he will be motivated to move up the ladder a little bit too.



bottom line: they are all going to try to come back stronger. roger just has to keep working hard if he wants it bad enough.

he needs more consistency and he needs better fitness.

tennis channel is about to show the nadal vs ferru battle again.

I think I will catch the first set and see what I can pick out. that 2nd set which I saw earlier was definitely shaky from nadal.

ferru was just missing too much. it was not anything special that nadal was doing.

I am watching it now. nadal is shaky as hell.

especially off the backhand wing. there is no consistency.

I think nadal is running on fumes right now. he is tired from having won so much. there is mental fatigue and then there is physical fatigue.
