Every day feels like it's the weekend
In the Northern Hemisphere
Beautiful idyllic days
Sun beaming down
Feeling the heat in the breeze
Shorts + summer dresses
Sunglasses are a part of the fashion
Drinking cool beverages
Imbibing in creamy coolness of ice cream
Loving it all with passion
Summers are brief up here
Making the most of every minute
Thriving joyfully in all the minuets of the suns exposure
Hot days and cool summer nights
Makes everything all right

It all began, when you took my hand

Breaking open a treasure trove close to her heart
Old letters yellowed with the ages of time
Precious items she safeguarded from her Canadian start
Pictures, trinkets, momentos in those days cost a dime
Vintage items that are priceless
In present time

Loved looking at her pictures
Her eyes sparkled with excitement
She was particular with her home fixtures
Her love of life, has nothing to do with contentment
Silk thread, satin lingerie, lace shirts
Her favourites found in the assortment

Moms treasure chest contained things she loved
Held a wonderful memory
Things that mattered
To HER

Her love
Her life
Her memories

A Week ago
Death saturated my being
Where eyes were dry of tears
They didn't shine of life

Eyes were lifeless

I felt like the joker with a
Smeared red lipstick smile
Deadened eyes

Broken in shattered pieces

God lovingly took all those pieces
And mended my heart
For it to beat
As it did from this life's beginning
One of many starts

Catatonic inertia had me feeling numb
The darkness sucked me in
Unwittingly I had to succumb

Walking aimlessly to discover
There was no secrets
Tears streamed out in the open
Unashamed dispelling
Any notion of being undercover

Inability to climb out of the aphotic clutter
Gripping fear of death
Squeezed my beating heart
My whole body in an uncontrollable shudder

It was only a week ago
I look back at her
Someone I don't recognize
Someone I don't know

Seeped on me like a fog
Drowning me
Enveloped in darkness smog
Just knowing I was the living dead
Sucked in by the dark
I feared no other

Closing my eyes
Feeling the slight breeze
Wisps of my hair
Floating in the air
Giving me a tiny tickle
Across my face
Slightly disturbing
My moments in meditation
Causing me to open my eyes
To observe two beautiful butterflies
Floating by
In their spiral dance
