Roger Federer undergoes knee surgery
Roger Federer tore his miniscus at the Australian Open and had to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery to repair it.
I thought he wasn't moving that well in his match against Djokovic. It seems that it showed up the day after their semifinal.
He'll miss Rotterdam and Dubai, two of his favorite tournaments, and possibly Indian Wells.
Also, some athletes have a difficult time recovering after the surgery depending on the severity of the damage.
Bad news for tennis and Federer fans.
Federer's injuries have been limited to back problems in recent times, but he's played over 1300 matches winning 1067, so not surprising that his knees have taken a hit.
In 2014-2015, between ages 32-34, Federer played the most matches on tour, 159. Djokovic was second, between ages 26-28, playing 157 matches.
Best wishes to him on recovering well. If it is bad, at his age, it could be a career ender.
The rest of the tour, especially youngsters, will have to step it up.
The tour has depended heavily on players like Federer and Nadal for keeping the crowds coming in and ratings high.
