Rafa snatches it in straights.

http://www.livescore.in/tennis/

His best match of the year, to me. He was consistent, didn't make a lot of errors, and had good concentration.

Andy retires to rest up for RG.

Rafa gets it done in straights and so does Federer.

Berdych needed 3 sets to remove Fognini from the facilities.

It was a good tennis day. Berdy buckled down. Fog was on fire and Rafa got through in straights. Poor Kevin, he can't do anything with Roger.

Rafa's match is at 9 pm tomorrow. horrible time.

what if that match lasts 3 hours.

they are not showing Rafa any respect at all. this is not right.

they know that Rafa will have to beat wawrinka, Federer, and djokovic for the title. that is a rough and tall order right now.

they could have just pushed it up a little bit to 8 pm

Yeah, but in all fairness he hasn't played any night matches. Regardless of the road he has to take, he needs to get pushed before RG. Maybe it will strengthen his resolve.

this is roughly where I am general.

this new bay saint Louis bridge is about 10 miles away from my place here:

hurricane Katrina had taken out the old bridge.

You survived Hurricane Katrina? Where you there when it happened? What did you do? Did it impact your place? Wow, I didn't put two and two together.

I lost 5 homes to hurricane Katrina.

all on the coast.

I was in natchez, Mississippi as it happened.

time to get pushed and suffer a little bit is now.

it will make life easier at RG.

Wow. That has to be devastating. Why do you continue to live there? That always seems so weird how people return to the place of a disaster. But, I guess our roots run deep and once we settle into a place it takes hold of our hearts. I have the state that I live in and have always wanted to leave, but it's home soil and it's so difficult to pull yourself away from a place that's so familiar.

Yep, it'll also give him a better gauge for where he needs to be and to devote as much time as possible, to achieve his goal.

Should Rafa be struggling against wawrinka on clay?

Wawrinka had never even won a set against Rafa on any surface prior to the back injury at the Australian open.

Again looking sharp against a 30 year old isner who can't move is not exactly a huge achievement.

Dimitrov demolished wawrinka in Monte Carlo.

Rafa should be able to beat wawrinka on one leg on clay.

I expected an easy win today.

I am not sure if can get this done at the current rate.

He might surprise so we will just have wait and see.
This should have been a 6-3, 6-2 type of match for Rafa.

It is over.

He just got broken. Can't even deal with wawrinka after such an easy match in the last round.

He needs work. There is no other way.

Too much inactivity and lost focus cost him.

He knew what he was doing. He even said he could drop to dangerous levels in ranking. That is how he put it.

No way in hell should wawrinka be able to win more than 5-6 games against Rafa on clay.

Again people just don't realize how much he has fallen.

He can still win this match. He just has to dig deep summon his inner resources and his relentless will.

Most likely he is out today but there is a small chance for a win.

Not from where he's playing. Why is he so far back in the court? He's acting like everyone has an Isner serve. If he doesn't want to change his tactics, then he deserves to lose, IMO.

Oh well.

So much for my small hope.

It is over now.

I am heart broken and I am pissed.

Rafa won't make it unless he starts training 7-8 hours a day.

Hard work and single minded focus on his game and fitness is the only way out of this.

I'm not seeing it. He's all over the place, covering more ground than a marathon man. He won't get anywhere near the baseline, so it is what it is.

It is much deeper than tactics.

He refuses to put in long yards in practice.

He is also dead set against practicing his return of serve.

He really can't break a decent player.

Even Fognini would have beaten him again today.

He is losing for only one reason now: he doesn't care to put in the required 7-8  hours  on the practice courts to bring his game back.

Should a 9 times RG winner with 46 clay titles be struggling against anybody on clay, let alone wawrinka?

He is down 1-5 in a set he had to have.

I am afraid the fall is as steep as I have called it.

He really let it all go for some reason.

I saw this coming and so did general masterclass.

He doesn't even have the mental reserves to fight this tooth and nail let alone the physical capital.

Better start working a lot harder and much longer in practice Rafa.
