he still cant help himself. he just has to run around his backhand 300% of the time. even in practice.
it doesn't matter if he is in a rally or if he is returning serve. it has to be the forehand nearly all the time.
he gives up too much court/real estate in the process.
also it leaves his backhand without much rhythm.
What does he need to do? And why isn't he correcting it? Do you think this is where he's not listening to others? He does seem to do different things when he's working with Carlos.
:::Sigh:::
This will be good enough for most of the tour, but not Nole. Drat!
that is exactly my worry. you hit the nail on the head. he can beat 99% of the tour playing from his forehand corner and giving up most of the court but it does mean 2 things:
1. it makes it harder for him. why work so hard when you don't have to. work hard in practice instead.
2. a guy like nole can take advantage since he does not give up any court at all. rafa has lost his last 3-4 matches to nole.
nadal has to let his backhand work for him and the way to do that is not run around it day and night. I bet he even runs around his backhand even in his dreams when sleeping.
his backhand is one of the best in the game but it can also let him down when he does not give it a chance to get into rhythm.
