I am worried about Rafa but there is not much we can do.


all the top guns were a little bit off. this was a golden opportunity for Rafa to grab the spotlight.


the damn back just had to go at the worst possible time. Australian Open title would have set the table so nicely for him for the rest of the year.

it could have changed his stars forever and he would be in the hunt to chase down history.

it is still do-able but it does become a little harder.

now he has to try to capture 2 of the remaining 3 slams.


that said, I don't think he is out of confidence. this the greatest match winner in history. he has the highest match winning percentage of any player in the open era.


what set him back is the back and the lack of sufficient practice on clay. that and he let his fitness take a small hit. those 2 things are hurting him the most: he has hit enough on clay and he is not as fit as he used to be.


his game is built on physicality. it calls for him to be pretty much supremely fit. he does his best work out there when he is supremely fit.

just too many injury related setbacks and then there are near endless demands from the sponsors and all the other businesses that he endorses. it seems like the whole world wants his time.

why don't just let him be during the most vital part of his season.
