we knew this could happen because it has been happening already.
even on his best surface he lost in the quarters at monte carlo and then again in Barcelona. he lost the final at rome masters.
he struggled at RG before producing some of his better tennis in the final.
Rafa has been struggling all year.
he has to start working on his fitness and his game. that is the only way to climb out of this funk.
bad back is not helping but he could get it checked again and then simply do more physical training to strengthen it.
He'll be fine. He's exceeded all of my expectations since he came on tour. And to do what he has done with the fluke and recurring injuries is phenomenal. So, at the end of the day, Rafa has given me all that I need entertainment at the highest level. I can't ask for more than that.
I hope he does take some time off and deal with his issues, but either way I'll be enjoying him as long as he plays.
