It makes sense that the antibiotics needed to be gone totally in order to have the surgery, but it still doesn't make sense why he'd play Basel. It's not like he was going to play a set of poker game or chess for that matter. He chose to play a tennis tournament that required complete and utter physical involvement and that will never make sense - no matter how we slice it or dice it.
