I think Rafa makes a very good point. The umpires have been instructed to give Nadal time violations, but like Rafa says, they ignore the time taken when players are breaking rackets and arguing with the umpires.

The Spaniard reveals the “secret” of his longevity throughout the years. He also dwells on the episode with Bernardes in Rio.
“When I was a kid, I didn’t feel the pressure coming from my family. I didn’t feel focused juts on tennis. I used to play tennis, soccer, go out with friends. You have time to be a pro in the future”.
Rafa Nadal’s secret for continuity is given also by who surrounds him day by day. “I give my team the flexibility to tell me the right things. If I play in a terrible way, they are not afraid of telling me. Sometimes the team of a great star is afraid of telling the players something. This is not happening to me, it’s something that helps me.”
Eventually, talking about current things, the Spaniard goes back on the outburst with Carlos Bernardes in Rio.
“I talked with him after the match. I don’t have a problem with him, he’s a good guy. I think that as chair umpire he’s not the best of the last times. He puts me more pressure than the other umpires. To it is unfair that the other players brake rackets, spectacling on court. And this all is more important than a 5-6 seconds delay between a point and another”, he declares. “I can’t accept it. It’s true, there are rules, but they have to be applied to everybody. Is it better to brake rackets or a 5-6 seconds delay? Is this a better example for kids? I don’t think so. I’m aware that to me it takes more time compared to the other players, but above all in Rio, the weather conditions were unbelievable. I was frustrated at that time. During the match against Fognini I went on the tunnel to change myself, and he told that I had just 15 seconds time. I couldn’t believe what was going on. Many players go to the bathroom between a set and another and they take more time. It asked him if I could stay longer and he told me that I was about to get a warning”.
